At Silk Alley you can find anything silk, and just about anything made in China and sold in the US at fantastic prices. For example, my husband bought a NorthFace ski jacket, which would have cost over $200 in the US for $40. He thought he did OK negotiating, until he found out that someone else in our tour group got the same jacket for $35.
Well, this really doesn't say all that much about the BI, but we really didn't spend all that much time in the hotel. On our tour, we got up at about 6 or 6:30, ate breakfast from 7 to 8, and were out the door and on the go for the next 12 hours. If you're looking for a nice, comfortable hotel in Beijing, don't care about marble bathrooms and French antique furnishings, and don't plan to spend that much time in your room, the BI is teriffic.
