Boston Hilton

I like my home comforts when I am travelling abroad, but Mr Tart is quite happy to stay in any old hostel. We were looking for somewhere to stay on a trip to Boston and had decided that a guest house would be a happy medium. However, they werent that cheap and when I found this for less I couldnt believe my luck!

LOCATION:

This Hilton is located in Bostons Financial District. It is at 89 Broad Street. Despite it being in the Financial District we found it very easy to walk from the hotel to the main tourist sites of the city. Quincy Market and the Old State House were only 10 minutes walk away.

PRICES:

The standard price for a weeknight in the hotel seems to be about $200 but if you go on the weekend it is a lot cheaper.

CHECKING IN:

My flight had been delayed from New York to Boston and Mr Tart, who was travelling up separately, got there before me. He couldnt check in as the room was booked in my name. However, they were very nice and let him leave his luggage while he came to the airport to meet a very stressed me (7 hours in Newark airport will do that!). When we got to the hotel check in was easy and there was a lovely girl on the desk who Mr Tart had obviously charmed because she upgraded us to a suite because he had waited so long for me!

THE ROOM:

I was extremely happy when after nearly 24 hours of being awake we got into the room. It was a very impressive room. We had a lounge area with a sofa bed and a couple of chairs and a TV. Also there was a small kitchen area with a sink and coffee machine. The bedroom had a massive king sized bed, desk and TV. The bathroom was in two parts, with the sink unit being an alcove off the bedroom and the bathroom proper with the toilet and shower/bath in a separate room.

The room was decorated in a traditional hotel style, quite plain, tourist pictures on the walls. The bathroom was made to look like marble and was very effective.

The bed was incredibly comfortable. It was firm but not hard, with enough pillows for an army. The sheets were fresh and clean and we both slept really well. The shower was really nice, good pressure with a big shower head so your whole body is covered!
The room also had Internet access although you had to pay for this which we didnt do. There was wired and wireless available. The wardrobe contained two bathrobes which were a nice touch because theyre something you dont really take on holiday. There was a mini-bar but there was no way that we were going to use anything from it. There was free tea and coffee and that was plenty for us. Mr Tart was happy because there was a real coffee machine and not just instant. The toiletries were good. They were Crabtree and Evelyn La Source ones which is quite a pricey make. They provided shampoo, conditioner (it really annoys me when hotels only provide shampoo they should automatically go together!), body wash, lotion, cotton wool buds and balls, a shower cap, shoe horn, shoe buffer and sewing kit. Not too bad on the ‘freebies then!

FOOD:

We did not eat at the hotel as I find that hotels are normally overpriced for food. We opted to have breakfast out. However, should you wish to stay in the hotel they have a restaurant which does breakfast, lunch and dinner and a bar which serves bar food from noon.

FACILITIES:

The hotel has a small fitness room. There is WiFi, although you have to pay for it which always annoys me so we didnt use it. Given its location you wont be surprised to hear that the hotel has meeting facilities and a business centre.

CONCLUSION:

I really liked this hotel. Ok so because its a Hilton its a bit corporate and theres nothing really to separate it from any other big chain. A guesthouse would have been more interesting to stay in but it would have been further out of the centre. If you are staying in Boston on a Friday or Saturday night and can pick this hotel up for a cheap price then its definitely worth it. A little bit of luxury never hurt anyone, right?!

Weekday getaway

The location and front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Any questions I had and help requests were fulfilled extremely efficiently and promptly. My only complaint about the whole travel was the cleaning staff was rude and was slamming doors at 8am. I must say it is extremely frustrating to be woken up to the sound of a door slamming across the hall. Especially if you were out late the night before. For that very reason i am kind of iffy if I would stay at the Boston Hilton again. For the price of the room I would have expected the rooms to have a bit more sound proofing.

very good customer service & location!

We stayed here based on previous ratings--and we agree. It is a very nice hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful in getting us checked in and answering our questions. We were able to get great tips about things to do/see and places to eat from the concierge desk. The room was very clean, the bed was, indeed, very comfortable--which was perfect after a few days of walking all over Boston. Really, our only complaint was that the lobby smelled like Ben Gay everytime we walked through it, and we couldn't figure out why! Great location--so close to the Markets and lots of restaurants. Took about 10 minutes in a taxi to get to the airport, which was convenient. Close to the Freedom trail, the water, and the T train. Overall, we were very happy with our hotel choice!

Hilton Financial District Boston: Top Notch

We were a little nervious booking in the Financial District for our pre-cruise stay (Fri-Sat) due to Seniors having limited walking tolerance, but went by the reviews and couldn't have picked a calssier, well-run hotel. As others have said, so close to Quincy Market (just walk about 2 blocks up to State Street. and over). Loved walking down the curving streets as well! Thanks to the Front Desk, and Bill, our Bellman for making our stay most pleasant! The hospitality and service by these two topped that of our cruise and now we wish we'd have just stayed at the Hilton for the week instead ( no lie.) Very classy. Thanks Again!

Great location, best hotel in the area for vacationers.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a mini-getaway before driving up the coast to Maine for a family reunion. We chose this hotel based on the location and the level of service that the Hilton could provide. We signed on for the "Romace Package" which included all you can eat breakfast buffet (which was our main reason for the package), and a bottle of champagne every evening. It was wonderful!!! The staff were very polite and attentive when needed. The hotel is centrally located to all of the main attractions. The start of the Freedom Trail is a 1/2 mile walk away from the hotel. The Aquarium is 1 block away. Great bars (the Black Rose- which is the best Irish Bar in town), are right around the corner. Great restaurants on the water are close by as well and the best Italian food (go to Giacomo's for lobster ravioli) is a short walk away as well.
