Smells like smoke from top to bottom

Visited here in September and while the rooms are large and some have great views of the port, the common areas all reek of smoke. Plus the large indoor pool is kept at such a cool temperature that swimming is not a pleasant experience. I would not stay here again. However, if you are a smoker, go for it.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn on the Bay for a quick, overnight trip on my way up north. I had read the reviews and thought would be a good choice. It was an EXCELLENT choice! The hotel is located near many tourist attractions, with the Old Port area within easy walking distance and the art museum right around the corner. I had recently broken my ankle, and the staff bent over backwards to make sure my stay was comfortable AND safe. The free shuttle is wonderful, and a very kind driver named M made sure I knew all about the city. Knowing I could not maneuver the city on foot, he drove me to sites so I could still enjoy everything. The room service was great! I had a steak and was suprised at how well prepared everything was. The only suggestion I could make would be to improve the rooms a bit. Although fairly clean, I felt the room was a bit dated.
A good hotel for business or pleasure. I would recommend it to anyone. Would be a great hotel for couples or mature travellers. Kids might find it a bit boring, but there is a children's museum nearby. I would stay again!

We stayed 1 night. The city and the hotel were very nice. The rooms were clean, the desk staff was professional. Parking was cramped. The hotel is a short walk to the downtown area and port. There is a mild to moderate hill you will have to walk back up to get to the hotel. This is only a problem if you have physical limitations. Explore the city. There are many delightful shops and restaurants. The information center across from the harbour has a TON of information on things to do as well as clean public restrooms. The harbour lighthouse cruise is GREAT.

Great Hotel. Walking distance to downtown. Very clean and modern. Free shuttle saved us many steps. We will come back here again.
spring break

My daughter and I went to Maine for a couple of days during her spring break from college. When we arrived the manager on duty gave us a walking map of Portland and pointed out all her favorite spots. Very helpful. The hotel is extremely well maintained and the facilities were excellent. I would suggest spending the extra money for a view of the bay.
