French Lick Springs Villas

Accommodations were nice--very spacious--probably the largest unit we've ever had, upstairs and down. There was a fireplace and deer and wild turkeys out your window. There's not much to do there, antique mall, train rides, retro bowling alley. Decor was '80s, but nice units, because of all the room. There's a large Jacuzzi in the main bathroom. There's firewood outside for the fireplace. This is a good place for families to spend time together in a quiet little town.

Best Things Nearby:
French Lick Spring Hotel, Paoli Peaks, Wineries, Louisville (hours drive), Patoka Lake (for summertime), Larry Bird's home

Best Things About the Resort:
Spacious units, clean grounds, friendly staff, efficient/informative check-in procedure, quiet, close to many activities, sauna in the unit!!

Resort Experience:
We had a lock-off unit with an upstairs and downstairs. It was great because there was a common door, but then keys to each unit-so you really had a lot of privacy (great for two couples/families traveling together).

I took the upstairs unit because it had the whirlpool hot tub in the bedroom, which was nice as it was pretty cool outside! We had a beautiful view from the balcony outside the bedroom, though I imagine it would have been better during the fall foliage time. Both units were very cozy and had everthing we needed on the vacation.

The downstairs unit seemed a bit larger. Kitchen was larger, living room was larger and it had more seating. The lower level unit also had the steam/sauna in the shower. We put that to good use!!! It's also recommended that if you have a walking condition or trouble with stairs that you stay in the bottom unit. There was something like 20-25 steps to the upper unit.

Overall, French Lick Spring Villas is a nice getaway vacation for anyone living in the Midwest. It's close, easily accessible, and affordable. If you like to get away for relaxation and outdoor fun, this is the place to be. In the winter, hit up Paoli Peaks for cheap skiing, snowboarding, sledding, or tubing-- then warm up at one of the many wineries in the area and have a taste! In the summer, you have just about every outdoor activity you can imagine--lake activities, hiking, caving, exploring, fishing, horseback riding, etc. You're even close to Amish country! I thought it was so neat when I was driving down the road, and lo and behold, a buggy pulled up the intersection! As silly as this sounds, I was in awe. I will definitely head back down to French Lick this summer, next summer, and probably every year thereafter! If you don't want to go a whole week, I at least recommend trying it out for a weekend.

Everything was there, soap, utensils, towels, face cloths, etc. so don't pick that up like we did. There's a lot of steps for many villas which should be considered if you have someone handicapped or physically challenged.

Holiday World Theme Park

Best Things About the Resort:
The tours that are available each day.

Resort Experience:
It was a steep walk to get to our villa door, but the unit was wonderful, and some of the other units had an even steeper walk/steps. The two decks were nice.

This was the nicest timeshare I have stayed in yet. It was bigger than my house. Large jacuzzi and sauna in downstairs bath. Giant kitchen, dining and living room. Bedrooms upstairs out of the way of the living area. The washer and dryer really cut down on how much we had to pack.
