My husband and I just returned from French Lick with our 12 year old and 10 month old. We had a hard time deciding between French Lick resort and west Baden, each are beautiful. French Lick is more child friendly and not as formal as west Baden. We stayed at French Lick Resort and will definiety return. The service was fantastic and the staff was friendly and definiety had southern hospitality. The room was luxurious but small, if you have more than two children or dealing with a pack n play you may want to consider a suite or adjoining rooms. If you are going for a romantic weekend for two I would recommend west Baden, but bring your bug spray. It had rained a few days before our arrival and the mosquitos were bad. The grounds at West Baden and French Lick were just beautiful and the history is fasinating. During our trip we went horseback riding and everyone at the stables were very friendly. I tried the spas at both French Lick and West Baden and prefer French Lick.

Great Historic Property!

First time we have stayed there since resoration completed. Distance from Indy just right for a weekend trip. Rooms beautifully furnished with period style furniture and lobby is breathtaking with all the gold leaf trim on the restored architecture. We stayed in the Spa Wing and our room overlooked the pool/jacuzzi area. Beds very comfy! Staff very friendly and helpful. Great weekend getaway to gamble and relax. Non-smoking area in the casino could be larger, but they are currently working on an expansion. We ate at the buffet and rate the food as far better than most Las Vegas buffets. Buffet is actually located in the former ballroom area, so it's beautiful as well. Don't miss the bowling alley in the basement or the spa treatments. Be sure to visit the Southern Indiana Winery trail while you are in the area. There are eight wineries within a reasonable drive. Can't wait to go back this summer when we can take advantage of the horse riding and the lovely garden areas. Boating/fishing also closeby. Several golf courses on site, if that is your thing. Pools look great (outdoor obviously closed in Feb when we visited). Some antique shopping, but not a lot in town. Make sure you take time to look at all the historic photos around the property. You will be surprised at all the famous people who have stayed here over the years. Also be sure to visit the other historic property about a mile away at West Baden Springs. There is a shuttle service available between properties. This resort actually has some pretty big name entertainment there. Be sure to check out the web site for upcoming events.

Never Again!

This trip was not worth the money! For the rates they charge, you would expect a little hospitality and appreciation of your patronage. The staff at the casino and the hotel were rude and way out of line with me and my husband. Explaination?? My husband was kicked out of the casino and when we asked why or what he did, every manager said "I don't know why, it must of been.....then some generic explaination." Bottom line we were treated very badly at this hotel and no attempts were made to right their wrongs. Not to mention that the food and everything was overpriced and not that good. I would very highly reccommend choosing another location for your weekend getaway.

Yes, beautiful and we are coming back this time for my husband's birthday this June. We celebrated our 20th Anniversary here last February and it was the best moment and place we've ever seen and been in southern indiana. The hotel lobby is gorgeous, we cannot resist to have a souvenir photo. The sister hotel West Baden was fantastic! We visited that hotel in the evening and the dome sight was awesome! So fascinated, we came back the next day for more photos. The food is delicious in the hotel buffet and the best thing was the discount we had that day that we didn't expect. We're just so contented and happy that we celebrated our anniversary in this beautiful hotel. You should see it! Oh, we've loved the casino and the people are so friendly. We're on our way back soon!

This is a wonderful gem in the hills of southern Indiana. Wonderful history with this and the adjoining West Baden Springs. Beautiful lobby, great pool (in and out), very nice spa, and good dining options (1875 Steakhouse quite pricey, but excellent). Ample staff - very friendly and helpful. We will certainly return - with the kids next.
