Poor Maintenance

Bathroom sink would not drain; reported to management on first sign of problem--three days later it still was not functioning; lights either were difficult to use or non functional. Extreme difficulty using ironing board and iron due to lack a convenient plug-in. Plu-in by sink was NOT an IMF which is required by code.
No telephone book in room; only one ash tray (we both smoke) Staff has difficullty with English language; cramped room; wierd shower control; slippery tub shower; grossly over-priced for condition, especially on weekends. No where to park or manuever in lot;; clumsy stariway to secend floor room.
No Value for $$

The value for cost was negligible. The luxurious Hyatt, 1 mile away, on a golf course, was available for the same room rate. I took my chances; bad gamble. Construction should have reduced rates; noisy and an eyesore. Parking is insufficient. Breakfast contains cheap bulk-purchsed carbs; no protein. Ridiculous. There are 4,000 rooms in Monterey; any one would be a better value than this. At least the wireless worked most of the time. This motel is just that; a very old cheap motel. Keep looking.

Hotel is undergoing major renovation. Awoke early on a Saturday morning to the sound of hammering and sawing. Front office staff moved us to a different room across the street, however were generally un-accomodating in addressing grievance. Do not recommend a stay here, as rooms, breakfast, and the noisy area (other than construction) do not warrant the high rates.

My family and stayed here in September and found the property to delightful. The location was within walking distance to downtown monterey and fisherman's wharf (5-10 min). We rarely needed to drive anywhere which was nice after being in the car for over 6 hours. Our room was spacious and had all the necessary amenities (microwave/fridge, coffee maker, iron, etc.). We woke the next morning and they had a modest breakfast (cereal, coffee, tea, juice, bages, toast and danishes). The man at the front desk was very pleasant and knowledgable about the area. .
Not so good

This hotel cost me $* for a tiny room, soiled carpet, broken Internet, holes in the wall, and a bad smell. Desk help was exceptionaly friendly, but could not make up for the poor room.
