In spite of listing four people staying in the room, online travel website/hotel booked us in a room with one King bed. The hotel was very accomodating upon our arrival. We wound up in a very nice room with a king bed and a pull out sofa. The room was beatiful!
Thsi hotel is at the south end of Manhatten. Travel to the rest of New York City is very accessible via subway.
Family sightseeing and theater trip

Over Christmas break, we flew in for a long weekend. The hotel was marvelous--we had a junior suite with a view of Ellis Island. The hotel is located near Ground Zero and Battery Park. In the morning, we headed down to a local restaurant (George's) at the corner of Rector and Greenwich for a bite to eat. After breakfast, we boarded the #1 subway at Rector to head uptown. During our trip, we saw "Hairspray" at Neil Simon Theater, toured the city on the Grayline Hop On and Off Bus, visited Ellis Island, toured NBC, and briefly shopped. Make sure you purchase tickets to events beforehand----to avoid long lines, and ensure your family has the opportunity to do what they would like. Avoid eating at the hotel restaurant---extra slow service and pricey!

This hotel was beautiful, clean and friendly. The restaurant was the only place open on Dec. 25. Food was not that great and it was overpriced. The staff was good and friendly. Both check in and check out were easy and fast. Front desk staff was knowledgeable. The door man and the bus boy were both incredibly professional, friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The housekeeper attended to our needs. The room was always done. We did ask for a couple of things before we arrived and they were not in the room. We asked the housekeeper for an extra towel (they only supplied 3 for 4 people) and she never brought the extra towel. The TV doesn't have too many channels (but who goes to NY to watch TV anyways). We had construction right outside our windows; therefore, we were awaken at 6AM by the hammering and metal clinging of the construction. We asked for a room with a view and they gave us a room with a huge building on the side (no view at all). But otherwise, the hotel was great. Far away from everything but nice.

We had a GREAT experience at the Marriott Downtown! We were upgraded to a corner suite on the 21st floor with a great view of Ellis Island and the water when checking in! The room was beautiful and newly redone! No elevator problems at all! The entire staff was very friendly from the doorman to the maid! This hotel is only a few blocks from Rector St and Wall St Subway stations if you want to go uptown. You can walk to 9/11 WTC site, Wall St, Battery Park for ferries to Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Brookly Bridge and a short distance from South Street Seaport. There are several places to eat within walking distance and Roys (in the hotel) has an excellent, but pricey breakfast buffet with made to order omlets, egg & waffles. Fill up here in the morning before you leave for the day! Overall I was very impressed!!
