We stayed at the Tongsai bay hotel over the New Year 2007/8.
The hotel is set in a private bay which is completely secluded and owned by the hotel. Each cottage has a massive bathroom sleeping area sitting area and balcony with a bath overlooking the resort and bay. It has been built very thoughtfully without disturbing the natural fauna and flora. There is even one cottage with a tree growing through the balcony.
There are three restaurants and a coffee shop. Two pools one for adults only which is an infinity pool over looking the resort.
The staff are fantastic and are always on hand to help guests. The resort is quite hilly but this is not a problem as there are electric buggies to whizz you to your cottage. The standards are very high and the food is wonderful however rates currently do not include breakfast which is a minus considering it is £200 a night. There is a gym and spa offering various treatments. The setting is ideal as you have fantastic views over the bay and as it is secluded there are no stray dogs or hawkers roaming the beach area. Taxi's can be arranged at reception and for a couple of pounds will whisk you off to Chaweng for shopping or night life or to Fishermans village for sophisticated dining. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a piece of paradise in a tranquil natural setting. I am sure my review does not do it credit but i hope that if you visit you will be similarly impressed.
