Embassy Vacation Resort at Grand Beach

  • June 1, 2004

Best Things Nearby:
There are plenty of places to eat and they're not too far from all the parks.

Best Things About the Resort:
Lots of space with plenty of bathrooms. The staff was very helpful. Screened-in porches.

Resort Experience:
This is like a condo-style resort. The floor plan is open. They were working on adding a pool at the time we visited. That will make two pools. They have planned activities for the children. The only negative about the resort is the amount of rust on things. The resort is on a nice lake with a sand area and watersports.

Best Things Nearby:
All of the major attractions.

Best Things About the Resort:
Rooms were extremely well kept and well prepared.

Resort Experience:
Even though this is the oldest building in the resort, it still has a good look and feel. Fitness room needs a major expanding and updated equipment. Dangerous to run due to the hectic travel in the Orlando and Kissimmee area.

Best Things Nearby:
Lake Bryan . . . a picturesque lake that calms you at night.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is conveniently located close to both International Drive (Sea World/Universal Studios) and Disney . . . in the heart of the action yet it is on a lake that makes it seem like a true getaway.

Resort Experience:
Our three-bedroom unit was beyond spacious. Three bedrooms . . . two king suites both with giant whirlpool tubs and another bedroom with two twin beds, perfect for kids. The dining room table was spacious . . . could seat 8 or 10 and the outdoor patio could easily seat 6. The decor was beautiful. The stone floors in the kitchen/dining area added to the atmosphere.

The lake area was a nice retreat. There were plenty of hammocks to drop yourself in for an evening of relaxation. Make sure you wear mosquito repellant. The pool was standard, but the resort activities made the pool area a fun place to be.

Disney

Best Things About the Resort:
The room was spectacular, two bedrooms with kind size beds, whirlpool tubs, and their own bath. A third with twin beds and own bath, then a screen covered porch. It was great to come home to after a long day at Disney.

Resort Experience:
The resort is on a lake of course. Don't plan on going swimming in the lake, I wouldn't--stick with the pool. We planned 2 days at the resort to recover from the parks, and the kids really enjoyed themselves. However, if you think you're going to the pool to save money, don't count on it. They have all kinds of kids activities planned, but they all cost some money, so bring cash along.

The kids night out was great. The kids went out with the resort workers for a night of kids only. They really enjoyed it. My husband and I enjoyed a night alone too. That was well worth the money. However--heed my warning--don't pay cash. I paid cash, and they charged it to my room and wanted me to pay again when I left. I had to work it out on my cell phone on the drive back home to get them to credit me.

The rooms had kitchens and stoves with everything you need. I went to the Publix grocery and bought a week's worth of groceries and cooked dinner almost every night--that saved a ton of money. Eating out for five can get expensive quick. Buy tons of snack to take to the parks. They have a washer and dryer in the room too, so you don't have to pack so much if you're willing to wash.

One day at the pool they offered to make tie-dye t-shirts. We all made one, and wore them two days later to the park. It was a great memory.

One recommendation, after a day at the park, is to hit the whirlpool tub in your room. I didn't do that until the last day, and really regretted not taking advantage of that. We had a room right above the playground, so we could sit on the screened in porch and watch the kids play.

Wonderful, renovated, spacious three-bedroom accomodations. Two master bedrooms that are extremely comfortable. The screen porch overlooking the lake and sunset -- breathtaking. A great "second" home feeling.

The children loved the pool, tennis, basketball court, and boating/fishing on the lake. "Kids only" night is the bomb (especially for the parents}!
