Labor Day Getaway

I selected a Hotel, like most, at the last minute and prayed that I could find a pretty good one. Much to my surprise, I stumbled upon The Best Western Monterey Inn, located just 2 blocks from the busy Fisherman's Wharf area of downtown Monterey.
Upon check-in, I was greeted by friendly desk clerks who informed me that the heater on the much anticipated Hot Tub was broken. A little bit of a bummer. The same clerk mentioned, after I asked if they had gotten many complaints on it, "No, typically most complaints come from the fact that we do not have air conditioning". I knew in my mind that on the Pacific, California Coast, it would be RARE to find a hotel that did, indeed have A/C. To make up for the lack of hot tub action, I was pleasantly surprised at the fact that the pool was heated!
The rooms are meticulously clean and host mini refrigerators and coffee pots. No need to pack your blow dryer as each room contains their own. Large Armoirs hold the TV set, which sadly had not Movie channels. So if your hope is to relax and "Veg Out" in front of the boob tube, just realize it would be better to check out the local cinemas.
Foot and entertainment is VERY close. The street that the hotel is on dumps you out on to HWY 1, which allows for a fast trip to Carmel. Each room has its own balcony, although the view leaves much to be desired. An underground parking garage keeps your car and belongings safe and secure, also enabling you to visit downtown without the worry of finding a parking space.
All in all I had a pleasant stay and was VERY pleased with finding such a quality last-minute hotel.

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at the Best Western. Everything about it was great. Check in/check out was a breeze. The hotel was well maintained. The rooms are big and the refrigerator was a nice bonus. Continental breakfast was nice, the hostess was very friendly. Easy access from the parking garage to the room. The room was more than I was wanting to spend, but I guess prices were high for the 4th of July weekend... It's walking distance to downtown, and close to fisherman's wharf and cannery row. I'd stay there again.
