Howard Johnson Hotel, Portland Airport (Oregon)

Getting picked up at airport was a little slow because the one givng the ride was also the front desk person and he had to check in some people before he could come get us. The rooms were clean and spacious. I was very surprsed to see that the rooms came with an iron and ironing board, hair dryer, microwave, coffee machine, refrigerator, and cable TV. The continental breakfast was OK. but, I've never seen scrambled eggs that were both frozen and flat like a pancake. I couldn't figure out the microwave in the dining room so I can't tell you how good it was. They did provide milk, coffee, juices, yogurt, toast, donuts, & apples. Great price for room and easy checkout. The hotel's van left right on time that I requested and even turned around when I realized that I had left one of my bags in the dining room. I would love to stay there again, but I will have to have a car next. time.

Perfect for our trip

Shuttle from the airport. Close to main bus line (we took everywhere). Stayed in 1 BDRM with 2 adults and 2 kids and didn't go nuts :) Very clean, very nice staff. Good breakfast. Lots to do in the area. Carpet/hallway furnishings a little outdated, but inside of our room was very nice. We definitely plan on staying again when we're visiting in Portland. Great hotel, not only for this price, just a good place to stay!

the price was right

The price was great for the size of the room. It was comfortable but tiny. The front desk was helpful and the hotel was quiet.

No problems, good place to stay for a short trip

It is a very strange layout and my room was very tiny, and there are parts that are a bit old (other parts obviously being updated).Nonetheless, it was a clean, comfortable place to stay overnight, and I had no problems. Front desk staff was VERY helpful and friendly. The breakfast wasn't great, but at least there was one. I would definitely stay here again for a brief trip to Portland!

Nice Room, Bad Front Desk Beware

If you want to say at a hotel , that Front Desk staff will be rude to you and ask you question like "What do you want?" when you call them on the phone then you got the right hotel. It is cheap and the room are nice, but you got to trade it in with headach with there Front Desk Staff. They don't really care if you already got your credit card swipe twice or even give you a receipt after paying. Also if someone call the hotel looking for you like your family or friends or your boss to see if you check in. The front desk staff empolyees will tell them that you aren't even a guest at that hotel. Then they will just go back to playing on there laptop computer. The first day I was here I had to tranfer rooms because the TV didn't work. Which was ok, third day I was here the my card didn't work on my door and I coudln't get in, and the front desk people gave me headaches and wouldn't help me with my problem. So if you want a bargain then go ahead and book a room at the Howard Johnson Portland Airport. Good luck with that. Remember to pack the advil make it a extra big bottle. You will have many problems with there front desk staff. But the housekeeping people are very nice and the room are ok. I guess it a trade off.
