The hotel itself is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation; It should have invested more. The hallway is grimy and cramped as it undergoes the process. The lines at check-in are long, although the hotel is fully-staffed and moves relatively quickly. The elevator bank is confusing, and the guard staff is not particularly helpful. Nickel and diming are highly visible at the hotel. Outrageous phone charges, room service fees, and luggage storage charges will be sure to take away any of the savings that you may have received on the room rate. Do not even ask about the parking rates.
These extra fees may be going into the rooms, but you will need a renovated one to see it. On my last trip, I got an unrenovated room where I was not surprised to see the ceiling tearing apart due to the steam in the shower. The renovated rooms are nice, and what they lack in size they make up for in modern amenities, such as internet access and the new Sheraton Sleeper beds.
There are surprisingly few restaurants in the hotel for a New York hotel, as Streeters New York Cafe is the only one worthy of mention. Food is average, prices are not bad for New York and service is good. Given the surrounding area, however, there are plenty of choices. If you like Chinese, try Ruby Foo's in Times Square a few blocks away.
The best part about the hotel is the gym and the executive lounge. The gym offers ample cardio equipment, while the lounge is a great place to relax after your workout. The lounge offers drinks, fruit, cheese and hors d'oeuvres, as well as a very friendly staff.
Overall, this hotel is not recommended. There are several choices in the area with better accommodations for similar prices, and you should have no trouble finding a decent rate, particularly given the weak business environment.

I had requested a lower floor when making the reservation, so I was suprised at check-in that the room was on the 26th floor. When I mentioned to the desk clerk, he kind of laughed and said "that is a lower floor, we do have 50 floors". There are seperate banks of elevators for certain blocks of floors, and the elevators were very fast, so the 26th floor was not bat at all.
I was very surprised by the size of room as I was expecting something not much larger than a shoebox. The room was quite large with two double beds, small table and two chairs, coffee maker (with complimentary coffee). The room also had a hair dryer, iron and ironing board.
In the lobby of the hotel there is a restaurant,lounge, and sports bar and grill.
On the lower level, with windows overlooking 7th Avenue is a health club with weights, circuit machines, exercise bicycles and treadmills.
We did not drive, but did notice the parking charge was $37 per day. We took a shared van service from the airport, which was about $16. A taxi would probobly cost $30-50 depending on traffic/time of day.
