Not sure what that other reviewer is talking about...did you stay at the same place we did? True, it is nothing fancy. We wanted a budget priced motel, but clean and with more amenities than a bottom of the line roadside motel. Also true there is no elevator, request a first floor room if that is an issue. Otherwise the staff was very friendly to us, our two young kids, even our dog. The room was clean and perfect for our family. The fridge and microwave was handy to make snacks or lunch. Even let us use the (more kid friendly) pool at another hotel just down the road and owned by the same group. Breakfast was also nothing fancy, but very nice (our 5 y.o. loved the waffles). On the west side of Madison, but just off the expy., we used it as a great home base for trips to campus (only about 15 mins. away) or up to the Wisconsin Dells/Devil's Lake area. We are already planning another trip back, and will stay here again.
DON'T STAY THERE!

it was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in my whole life. It's not just old, it's dirty too. The hall way is filled with the smell of smoke. There is no elevator. The walls are thin, and you could hear everything going on around the room. The staff is not knowledgeable with the services they provide. The shuttle service is very disorganized. Worst of all, when the co-worker I traveled with asked the front desk to make a call to my room, they gave him my room key instead!! (without even asking for an ID, either!!!) Don't stay there if you have a choice.
