A Perfect Location

I stayed here for a week while doing some work over at Stirling University because there was no space at the guest center on campus. I was worried because of a number of negative reviews, but I'm soooo glad there was no room on campus. The Golden Lion is just great. The room we had was comfortable, not big, but comfortable. Flat screen TV, a hot water machine, a few snacks, and tea bags. A nice round table and two comfortable chairs were perfect, along with a foot rest, when we came back from lots of walking around Stirling. And that is the point, the hotel is in a totally central location. Walk up to the castle, the train station, the bus station, a big modern shopping mall with a M&S. In other words, everything you need. Jump a train to nearly any where in the region and be back by night, walk to the hotel--PERFECT. Service was smooth. We had no issues at all. And then there is breakfast. No, I wish the hotel actually did not have this full on British breakfast, because I must have gained a few pounds from this. It is big, with lots of choices. You get a seat fast and then go at it. Tea or coffee, toast white or brown. My wife and I loved Stirling, and Scotland in general. The Golden Lion is perfect as a base to see the region.
