Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa October 9 - 14

We love Sausalito and the area that Casa Madrona was in. However, when we arrived we found that the "bay view rooms" were not what we thought they were. We had to take 2 elevators and walk up 78 stairs on the outside then up another set of 20 stairs to get to our room. We also found that the rooms were only $*/night and we paid $*/night..????- overcharged..... We did ask for different rooms and were given the rooms on the 3rd floor (my husband has a bad knee and cannot walk up that many stairs) These rooms had a "bay view" as well. But we had to move twice because the rooms we were in had been booked for Saturday night only. Fortunately the hotel did not have a lot of people staying so we were able to get the better rooms which were listed as $*/night, so we came out okay except for Saturday night. The website needs to tell everyone that you have to walk up a lot of stairs to get to the bay view rooms. Even though we had these problems, we would highly recommend the hotel because of it's location and the staff were very good to us. The bar and restaurant have excellent food too.

always enjoy the hotel, have stayed in many different rooms but for rates with online travel website you are put up in old part of hotel. not a bad thing except the last 2 flights up have no elevator, and was put up in the top floor so another climb up a flight of stairs--am a healthy 70 yr. old but could be a problem for other people--would perhaps be a little better if they could be a little more accommodating--would only let me change rooms if i up graded to $***--hotel was far from full--

Fabulous location, right by the ferry and in the town centre. Hotel itself is a little tired and the rooms are expensive, however the location makes up for a lot! Lots of steps as the hotel is made up of many seperate buildings. We only stayed one night, but Sausalito is a great place to enjoy a quick break from the City, with several good restuarants close by.

Not what it use to be.

IWe stayed at the INN - The room had ants, mold in the shower, dirty carpet, out of date furnitureand fixtures (not antiques) - nothing was as advertised. The staff did not accommodate, for the price you would expect a morning paper or continental breakfast like nearby inns. Sadly, this is not the quaint inn that we frequented for many years and we will never patronize them again.

This hotel is housed in a lovely Victorian mansion, with gorgeous views of the bay. We picked a "superior room" which featured a fireplaces. The furnishings were elegant and the service was great.

They also have cabins, suites and family-style rooms with kitchens. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it if you want a retreat from the hectic city. They have a brunch in the so-so restaurant here.
