Nice but Noisy

They Hay-Adams was a very elegant hotel and the staff was great. Our only complaint was that you could hear everything that was going on outside of the hotel (our room faced a small alley) including the garbage trucks early in the morning (which seemed to come every morning).
My advice for light sleepers is to skip this hotel and find another nice one in the city.

This was the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was comfortable. The staff was extraordinarily helpful. The breakfast was included and superb.

The Hay-Adams exceeded all of my expectations. The foyer and dining room are beautifully decorated in a classic style, the guest rooms are outstandingly appointed with all of the amenities that could be desired.
The very best points about this hotel however are location, location and location...a few steps outside the front door will put you outside the White House, leading on to the National Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue.
The food and service at both breakfast and dinner in the Lafayette Room was excellent without being too oppresssive and showy.
Finally, this hotel is a great location for celebrity and VIP spotting!

I've stayed at the Hay-Adams several times but this was the first time for a more extended stay with my wife. Great location, wonderful staff, and a very high level of service. A bit pricey, but the accomodations, location, and service provide value for the price.
Had business meetings at the H-A on 2 days and the food--breakfast and lunch--was outstanding. Also had dinner in the Lafayette Room which was very good.
If you are looking for a wonderful small hotel, especially for a special get away in DC, this is the place.
Also, St. John's Church, which is directly across the street, is an historic and beautiful church worth attending.

This hotel was amazing. From the moment you walked in you walked in you knew it was a 5 star. Sure the price is high but the service and attitude of the staff is impecable.
