The Acacia is a small "boutique" hotel. It is very close to the beach and walkuing distance from downtown area. I liked it because it is a little bit away from the central hotel area and the beach is more of a local beach than a tourist beach. Others might find these aspects a draw back. Similarly, it is easy to walk a short distance from the Acacia and find yourself in a less than affluent neighborhood. Again, I like the local color and flavor of urban San Juan. Others might not.
The Acacia is decorated in a cool and funky manner. Think hanging lights in the stairwell, small fountains and large Buddha statue. The rooms are small but functional and have nice balconies. The hotel is absolutely not handicapped accessible. There are no elevators and small curvy hallways. This gives it a private sort of feel but would not be good for anyone with mobility issues. The service is friendly and hte rooms are clean.
The best surprise was the restaurant. It is a tiny bar restaurant that is not open very much (generally for a bar experience you can go to the Wind Chimes on the next block owned by the same people) however, when the Acacia bar/retaurant is open it is excellent. It has a great curved bar and a small number of tables. The chef is top notch. Absolutely fabulous! The cerviche was outstanding as was the mofungo and the skirt steak with tamarind and thyme. My wife and I honestly were not expecting that much when we went there but it turned out to be one of the best meals we had in San Juan.
Perfect!

This inn was absolutely Perfect!!! It is one building away from the beach- great location. Hotel atmosphere was wonderful. The jacuzzi is as big as a swimming pool and has waterfalls. No surprises on the bill upon checkout. Restaurant on the premises. You have access to the swimming pool across the street. Extremely clean and well kept. Friendly, informative staff. A front desk clerk named Felix was very informative and gave us information on all of the important tourist points of interest (he really made our vacation more enjoyable because we were knowledgeable about our surroundings and knew where to go). Staff will book tours for you that can come pick you up. Old San Juan is about 20 minutes away on public transport (less if you have your own car). DEFINITELY STAY HERE- PARADISE!!!!
Very impressed

Excellent boutique hotel. Half a block from the beach in a quiet residential area. A few safe blocks walk to the Ashford Ave restaurants and shops. Staff extremely nice and fluent in English. Beautiful tile work and the 34' x 12' spa is unbelievable! Restaurant opens 4/07. Guest can use facilities of At Wind Chimes (pool, parking, restaurant/bar). Rooms #06 - #08 have LCD flat screens, ocean views. Highly recommend.
