Good experience - would recommend Sheraton Manhattan

Great location with friendly service. We were on a family vacation with two children under 14 so the close proximity to many uptown sites, subway and Central Park were all an attraction. Rooms were clean and larger than expected for this facility which seemed to dwell on the small rooms. We requested a mini-fridge which was very useful throughout the stay. Housekeeping was very responsive to requests and prompt in service. The pool was a nice break from the continuous motion of the city. Well equiped fitness room - clean. The location was excellent and the overall experience exceeded our expectations.

Good Location. Mediocre Hotel.

Traveling with a School Band (100 people), we reserved a lot of rooms. Of course, with so many rooms book, you could expect one or two to be over-booked. In our case, about 8 rooms were over-booked due to the lousy service. For some it took up to 5 hours for Sheraton to fix all of the reservation problems. Also they advertise that they have a conference center... which is across the street. The lack of a conference center on-site was a major inconvientance for our group. The pool at the time (March '07) was closed. The room was great. It was clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. The view was great, too. This was probably because my room was on the "Starwood Preferred Guest" floor. The food on-site was overpriced, but that's typical for New York. The location is about a 5-minute walk to times square. The proximity to central park is also a huge plus. Beware that the wireless/wired internet is free in the lobby, but costs $15/day in the rooms. But if you aim your laptop, you can pickup an internet connection from Starbucks, which is cheaper. Also, if you don't have a laptop, they have free computers in the lobby.

NOT GOOD FOR THE MONEY

This hotel is very OLD. I don't know how they could say they have rennovated anything- it looks as though the last time it was decorated was 1972. This hotel and the Sheraton New York are right across Broadway from each other. Do yourself a favor and stay in the other. This Sheraton had extermely small rooms that smelled musty. The shower drain did not work properly and left standing water during and after a shower- gross! Housekeeping never responded to any of our issues the entire time of our stay. NYC has many great hotels and this is not one of them.

Great Location

This was our 1st visit to NYC and the hotel was in a great location. We rode the subway and was able to walk everywhere. However, the hotel was pricey ($* + per night) in June. The rooms were small but okay. We never got enough towels and the bathrooms were never cleaned! We stay for 5 days! Overall, the location of the hotel was great and if I couldn't find anything else that was more affordable, I would stay at the Sheraton again.

Our room didn't look like it had been remodled recently.

The room was dated and dingy, dirty carpets. We had to request clean towels after our room had been cleaned. On each of the 3 nights we were there we were short towels! 1st night the A/C wasn't putting out. 2nd day maintance fixed the problem. Tiny rooms too, but it was in a good location.
