I didn't like the Hotel ,the room service open the door without touching it, the restaurant's Hotel had a bad service totally desorganized, and they charged us $ 6.00 for each traveller as a fee for the shuttle to the JFK airport ,where suppose to be a free shuttle to the airport and the airport to the Hotel. I expect better service for the price.

Pan American Hotel is an old building, it is farily clean, but not overly so. Our Non-smoking room smelled like smoke, that got stronger every day. We think that maybe the maid smoked in our room while we were gone, because every day when we returned the window was open (weather was in the 40-50 degree range) Hotel is too far away from Broadway-Times Square, Macy's. Taxi to Broadway area cost between $25. 00- 40.00 We had a problem getting a Taxi to take us back to Queens, some just refused, they did not want to go that far. Subway is five blocks away. Shuttle to hotel from airport free, costs $6.00 per person to return to airport.

My daughter's first visit to New York on her 20th birthday was memorable.
The accommodations where suitable for the price. We had 2 double beds, the room was spacious and clean our location was facing Queens Blvd, still was quiet at night. The front desk was friendly and the staff courteous... having a restaurant downstairs was a major plus...specially early morning fresh coffee, breakfast was good and reasonable prices.
The 4 blocks to the subway was an easy walk and it honestly was only 15 minutes to Manhattan, Rockefeller Center and Time Square. Free Shuttle to and from the airport is also very convenient. I would go back.

On our first visit to New York we stayed at the Panamerican Hotel and thought it was an excellent place to stay. We flew into LaQuardia and the hotel offered a free shuttle to the hotel and a shuttle back for only $6 per person. It would of cost us about $120 round trip from a cab service. The room was very clean and the people were very helpful. There are several restaurants in the area that offer delivery to your room, there is also a restaurant in the hotel that offers room service. But if you had rather have fast food there is a McDonalds arcoss the street and a Wendy's about 2 blocks away. The subway is only 4 blocks away. We bought an unlimited pass to ride the train. Ask at the hotel for a free map and with that you can go anywhere via subway. We felt very safe to walk in the area and never had to take a cab. All in all this is a great hotel for a family or a couple to stay while visiting New York. A tip about the bed, make sure you bring your own pillows. These were very uncomfortable.
