Had recently stayed at this hotel. Free breakfast in the morning is ok, nothing to brag about if you are starving. Hotel Staff needs customer empowerment, which they are lacking. Rooms are ok but they are not cleaned good as we found few condoms from the other guest. There is no entertainment at the hotel and hotel security is poor, matter of fact seen no security during late evening hours. I would stay again if I could not find a place to stay with 20 miles radius. Value for money ONLY depends upon where you stay. Oh! they charge Resort fee which is a ripoff!!!

On the Money

Unless you stay at one of the Disney-specific hotels, any hotel you get near the Magic Kingdom will be about the same. I'd rank most of those hotels as cheap, but average, and the Quality Inn Maingate West is no exception. Don't get me wrong - this is not a bad thing. We paid about $25/night for the hotel in January.

The hotel is clean and comfortable. They offer several standard amenities, including wi-fi, free breakfast, and shuttles to the main attractions. When we were there in January, the shuttle service seemed sort of sporadic. I'd recommend renting a car if you plan to go to Universal, or if you're the type that needs to be at a theme park from open to close.

The Quality Inn Maingate also offers a swimming pool, which we did not use, but it looked decent. It is also within walking distance of several restaurants, including Golden China, TGI Friday's, Giordano's, and a few smaller places.

For more information, you can check out their website at Quality Inn Maingate West.

Cheap Prices - and Now I Know Why

We picked this hotel for its cheap rates ($45 a night) and close proximity to Disney World. We got what we paid for and nothing more.

The hotel is located on the main highway in Kissimmee, only about 10 minutes from Disney. The highway is very busy, with medians - which means you can only exit one way and will have to make a u-turn to go the other. It's a three story, 'L' shaped building right next to a lot of restaurants.

The staff was ok, but didn't go out of their way to be super friendly. I was not happy to find a $1.50 'activities' fee added to our stay per day. Its supposedly for the pool and other extras, but there's no way to opt out.

The rooms are accessed from exterior walkways, with both stairs and elevators providing access to upper levels. The room itself was well maintained and didn't show too much age. I hated the shower, although I haven't yet found a hotel shower that I liked. Unless you're super short, you'll find that you have a hard time getting under the water - but even then the pressure's not any good.

I also had a problem with the maid service. On our first night, I found two cans of Pringles under the bed - which was strange because there really wasn't an "under the bed" the way the have boards blocking out most of the space. I was a little worried that the housekeeping weren't cleaning very thoroughly. On the second day, the housekeeping didn't clean out the coffee maker.

As I said before, the hotel is on the main highway in Kissimmee. At night you're reminded of this constantly from the noise of the highway. We were on the back/side of the building, away from the highway and it still bothered me. On top of that, Kissimmee is a vacation town, with folks out until all hours. There was an almost constant flow of folks past our door (the door lead outside) that keep me awake for a while.

The continental breakfast was disappointing. They provided frozen waffles, oatmeal and cereal along with beverages. That's it. No fruit or hot items at all.

Overall, I feel that I got what I paid for. Considering the expense of the Disney Parks, I'm still not sure if I would have rather paid more and received more.

our family stay was pleasant overall. about 8 loud kids arrived at hotel at 3am and stayed in parking lot for an hour - no action by hotel was taken. The heated pool was freezing. the rooms had a old, musty smell to them. the breakfast was OK. But, location is great and price was right - could stay again.
