Description: I live about two hours away from Atlantic City by vehicle. I have been to almost every casino/hotel in Atlantic City and Harrah's is my favorite (though I haven't stayed at the new Borgata Hotel yet). The number one reason I like Harrah's is because it is away from the hustle and bustle of the Boardwalk. The hotel is located at the Marina in Atlantic City which is located past the Showboat hotel and casino (also owned by Harrah's) on the Boardwalk. Since the casino is located in this area, you do not get much riff-raff that leaks in from the boardwalk.
You have two options when you pull up to the hotel. The first is to valet park your car, and the second is to park in the self-park garage. I don't know what the valet charges, but the self-park is between $1-$3 for you length of stay. With either parking option you really don't need your car in Atlantic City. There is a bus from Harrah's that will take you to the Showboat Hotel and Casino on the Boardwalk if you plan to wander. The only minor flaw about parking in the self-park garage is the distance from there to the main lobby. You must actually pass through the casino with your luggage if you are checking in and walk about 100 yards to get to the front desk. Hey, if you are only going to gamble, who cares?
Harrah's has been refurbished recently. There is a brand new tower with all new rooms. The other towers are very nice also. The rooms are decorated with a summerhouse feel to them. All rooms are spacious; our room had floor-to-ceiling windows, a king size bed, a sofa, table and two chairs and a nice size bathroom.
The hotel has live entertainment most nights at the Eden Lounge located outside of the gaming area. The bar has blocks of ice on the counter to keep your drinks cold.
You have dining options out of the wazoo. You have a choice of two restaurants for fine dining. The first is Florentino's, which serves Italian fare and the second is The Steakhouse, which is self explanatory. The Fantasea Buffet is a seafood buffet, which is one of the top buffets in all of Atlantic City. There is also a 24-hour cafe, a grille, coffee bar, raw bar, and there is also a wine bar.
The casino has hundreds and hundreds of slot machines to choose from. Starting at the nickel slots up to $500 slots. You can also choose to play all different varieties of video poker machines scattered throughout the casino.
There are about 65 tables in the casino to choose from, with all of the popular games. These tables get very crowded on the weekends, and on Friday and Saturday nights, they usually raise most table game limits to $25 minimums.
