Best deal near the beach and city center

The hotel was not fancy but way more than what we expected for the price. Our room was clean and came with an iron, ironing board, coffee maker, microwave, fridge and hair dryer. Breakfast has coffee, juice, Danish variety, English muffins, bagels, apples and bananas and USA Today. There is a restaurant on the premises if you need more than that.
Great location! The post office and the library (with free Internet computers) are two blocks away. You can walk to Main St. and all the way to the Mission in minutes. You get to the beach and pier across a pedestrian bridge over Hwy. 101.
The front desk personnel was nice and friendly. We extended our stay and they honored the Travelocity rate, even though it was lower than their own website's rate.
The last train is around 9:45 and we hardly noticed it. We got a room on the north side and it was very quiet.
I definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

This motel could have been so much better than it was.
It had lots of parking, free continental breakfast, an attached restaurant, a heated pool, and decent sized rooms. Even so it came up short in two areas, one small and one great. While the room looked like it been redecorated within the last few years (newish carpet, tile, wallpaper, etc.), my wife noticed where it wasn't as clean as it could have been. She found blood stains on the bedsheets. Everything else looked clean enough.
The biggest flaw wasn't the motel itself but noise from our fellow travelers and service vehicles. Other reviews mentioned that the site is close to train tracks and Highway 101. After the last train passed around 9:30 PM we didn't hear either. However, another guest showed off (or "broadcast") the subwoofer of his car stereo a few times throughout the night as he boomed out his music that literally shook the walls. He and his companions came and left at least three times during the night and yelled to each other every time they did. This went on between 10:00 PM and 3:00 AM. At 5:45 AM a food service truck noisily backed into the parking lot to unload its delivery. Other guests left in the wee hours of the morning and spoke loudly as they passed our room (I'm guessing they were fishermen). Needless to say, we hardly slept at all.
Both desk clerks we spoke with were neither terribly kind or professional. I'd say the service was "no frills" but not rude or poor.
If they could enforce better guest behavior (especially at night) and arrange for quieter delivery trucks, I would stay here again.

We stopped here on our way through town to check about a later day to stay. The room they showed us was nice but when we came back in a week to stay the room they gave us had a cigarette smell even though it was to be non smoking. This was a concern since I have asthma. It was close to the beach and would have been nice to walk bridge over to it but the weather did not cooperate - cold and rainy. The staff was helpful. Breakfast ok. The train is nearby but we did not notice it at night. The price was right. Restaurant is right next door. We would stay again only is we got a room without the odor problem.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good. Parking is a bit difficult when they are sold out. The hotel is pretty old and shows it in some ways. This place is nothing fancy but it is a good place to stay if you are only looking for a place to sleep while you are out and about in the area. It is close to the railroad tracks and you do get noise from the trains but it wasn't bad at night. I would stay here again if I could get a really good rate but I wouldn't pay full price for it.
