Pleasant lush setting

We found Seagull Resort to be very enjoyable. quiet and relaxing. The staff was very helpful. We had a wonderful lunch at the rockpool-side restaurant and the waiter was most pleasant and attentive. It is located a short drive from the airport and to nearby beaches and shopping in town. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Seagulls Resort

Palm trees, sea breezes, large free-form pool and great casual restaurant are all here. If it sounds like paradise to you, in practice it was very close to that for me. The extra plus was that this resort did not break our bank.

The possible downside for visitors without their own transport is that you can’t walk to the centre of the city or to many of the attractions because the resort is on the beach about 2.5 kilometres from the CBD and the airport. This is partly overcome by the resort courtesy bus which operates to these points at regular intervals during the day. We found no problem with tours as all operators pick up from outside reception.

I liked this resort because it is low-rise and there is plenty of space. The neighbouring developments are single-storey private residential houses so there was nothing to interrupt our privacy or the illusion that we were on a tropical island. As well as two pools there were facilities for tennis, a playground for children, a laundry, and a shop. We dined twice in the delightful open-style licensed restaurant, which operates for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are complimentary BBQ facilities if you want to cook your own meal and while we did not, several groups of guests used these during our stay.

Rooms come in several shapes and sizes. We stayed in a Reef room which had a kitchenette but many would be satisfied with the standard motel-style Bay rooms. All rooms have TV/video with remote control and complimentary movies, refrigerator, airconditioning, fans, iron, hairdryer and telephone. Some self-contained two-bedroom apartments are also available. We swam, took the bus into the city, watched a movie 0n the in-house system, and my wife bought a sun hat in the resort shop but our greatest enjoyment was sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying the wonderful tropical gardens just outside the front door.

Price: A$99 for Bay rooms, A$110 for Reef rooms single/twin/double.
