Oasis in The Desert...

Oasis in The Desert...

I am in the military. I had been staying in the desert for almost nine months doing my necessary training for my job. I was stationed at 29 Palms, but I was about to move out because I had completed my training to go to a new station. Before I left California, my wife decided that my daughter and I should stay down in the Palm Desert, so we could pick up my stepfather from the airport in Palm Springs. He was going to help us move across America. My wife decided that my daughter and I should stay at the Holiday Inn Express for one night. My daughter and I went down there and stayed for the night. This is the story of our visit....

Arrival
When we arrived at the hotel, it was very late. Trying to find this place was not easy, and I have to say that if I didn't have my GPS that I would have never found this place. This place is hidden, and you need to be sure that you know exactly where you are going. Even though it was on Highway 111, you still need to pay strict attention or you will pass it many times. The good thing about this hotel was that it was surrounded with great restaurants. Places such The Cheesecake Factory (That's another review) were near by to go and eat.
The receptionist was very nice and polite. She was very kind that my daughter was trying to have a long conversation with her about Halloween and what she was going to dress up. She told us everything from where our room was to where the pool was at.

Pool Time
My daughter during the entire ride down to the hotel was so eager to get into a pool that she kept mentioning it every second. She kept mentioning it that my ears started to fall off. When we finally got to our room, we changed and got into our bathing suits. We made it down to the pool. The pool area had a large pool and a hot tub. I tried to get into the pool, but the second I put my toes into the pool, I realized that it was too cold for me to go into. By the time we got down to the hotel, it was dark and already getting cold. I was not eager to go into the pool, so we decided to go to the hot tub.
The hot tub really wasn't a hot tub when I pushed the button to get the bubbles going. The hot tub never warmed up, but rather, just shoot out bubbles. Don't get me wrong, the water was lukewarm, but come on, if you are going to have a hot tub, then it should immediately warm up the button is pushed. What was even worse was that there was a dead cockroach in the hot tub.

Room- A Place To Relax
If I had a lot of money, I would just go stay in a hotel for a vacation. Our room was very nice. You had two well-made, comfortable beds that I could sleep for a 1,000 years in. Air condition that work to the point that you could make the room like the Artic.Showers that had amazing pressure that you were actually getting a massage. My only fault with the room was that there was not flat screen tv (Hey, I am sorry, but I am hotel snob when it comes to having a HD flat-screen tv).

Breakfast
The food was ok for what you were being served. There was nothing about the food that separated itself from the other hotels that I have been, but I can't complain too much since you are getting for free.

Thoughts/Feelings
I really like this hotel a lot, especially since it was in Palm Desert. Palm Desert is very rich area, so when I left the hotel, I felt that I was a millionaire. Even though there was a dead cockroach and the no flat-screen tv came into play, I would recommend this place if you need to stay somewhere for the night.

When I checked in to my room I found the smoke detector to be in need of a new battery (it was chirping).. I contacted the front desk and the maintenance department was on site within 10 minutes to replace the battery
