Wonderful experience!

The renovation of this hotel has been flawless. Every detail has been taken care of to make a wonderful stay - from real glasses (and wineglasses) in the room, flat screen TV, great robes, plush towels. The business center and fitness center are small but very functional. The location is perfect! We were able to walk everywhere - downtown, to the park, the walking paths along the river, the Pearl DIstrict, etc, etc.
My husband hates older buildings and "cutsie remodels." He loved Hotel deLuxe - the clean lines of the art deco style made him feel like he was in a sleek, modern place. I liked that as well, but appreciated the beautiful architecture and original "bones" of the building. The air conditioning was wonderful - very cold and the controls were responsive. (This renovation must have cost a fortune!)
As in most older hotels, the rooms are not large, but we were happy to lose "floor space" to accommodate the king-size bed - it was heaven! The mattress, pillows and linens were SO comfortable.
The staff members were very friendly and helpful.

As a downtown (city noise) hotel it was very good. The building has always been used as a hotel since opened in 1912, but recently remodeled in 05-06'. It is cool and chic with a 50's moviestar glamour decor. The front desk was extemely helpful, and most of all the valet/bellhop who suggested and directed us to several choice restaurants just a few blocks away in the "yuppie" Pearl district of Portland (if there can even be a "yuppie" part of Portland). Parking a tad pricey in the garage across the street ($24 a day), but we easily found 5 hour meters that were free after 7pm until 8am the next day. The in house restaurant " Gracey's" was yummy and we enjoyed the bar late at night, however last call was about 12:30am which seemed early to me as I am unsure of usual last call times in Oregon (2-3am here in Cleveland). The only thing I would remember is to feel free to ask for a different room if yours does not suit you. Our end Kind size was rather small/cramped, but heard they would exchange easily.

I've stayed there a few times and am going back for my birthday, I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else. The hotel is clean, beautiful, and comfortable, the staff is extraordinarily nice and helpful, the bar is amazing and the restaurant food is excellent. They also have the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Plus, it's a great location, you can walk to downtown, Old Towne and the Pearl District.
We will definitely stay again!

We recently stayed two nights at the Hotel deLuxe and honestly have no complaints, in fact, we are so thrilled to have found such a fantastic hotel for such a great deal. The hotel is elegant, staff is extremely responsive, courteous and professional, the room was perfect (they even upgraded us), love the toiletries being an Aveda fan, just don't touch the $6 bottle of water! LOL Seriously, who expects to pay less than that for a bottle of water in a hotel room. Yes, you can hear the MAX light rail, but it is not loud by any means and actually, we enjoyed being in the city.
The bed was like a dream! Being 8 months pregnant I'm not sleeping really well, so I truly appreciated the pillow menu. I kid you not, my two pillows I requested were at our door in about 5 minutes.
We also loved the shower head and are looking at one like it for our home.
Room service was extremely fast and tasty, which our 8 year old appreciated.
Breakfast at Gracie's was delicious, the coffee was superb and the Eggs Benedict was perfect. Service was outstanding.
We can't recommend Hotel deLuxe enough.

I arrived early in Portland and the hotel staff let me into my room early - very nice. Old hotel charm with modern upgrades - and the food was excellent. Near both downtown and the Pearl so I could walk everywhere and right on the TRIMET line.
