basic hotel in downtown Chico

This was a very basic hotel very close to activities I had planned for the weekend in Chico. I chose it because it was very inexpensive and other friends were staying here not because I thought it was a great hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and everything went smoothly it just wasn't anything special. The sheets and pillow cases were rough and the lighting was dim but everything else was standard. If you are looking for an inexpensive, no frills conveniently located hotel right in downtown Chico this would work.

My main objective was to stay downtown affordably. The Heritage Inn Express seemed to have the best of some pretty bad reviews for the hotels/motels downtown. I was very disappointed at how rundown the place was. The carpet was dirty; the phone was filthy and the remote control had gunk (dried food?) on it. The bed was kind of uncomfortable and creaked a lot. One of the lamps had a bad lightbulb so I got a new one at the front desk. The lighting was really poor around the mirrors where you had to blow dry your hair etc. There wasn't any room to speak of around the sink to place things on. Overall, it was just depressing. Also, at breakfast they were always out of something or the food hadn't been put out at all until something was said. On the plus side, the people I dealt with at the front desk were always nice.

We took our daughter to the review of Chico State. The Inn is very close to the school within walking distance. The rooms are good, but you can't beat the value of it. The beds were a little on the stiff side but its a quite place. Good coffee in the moring and cold milk for your flakes. Not bad at all to stay for one or two nights. Will stay agian the next time we go up there.

We have stayed at the Heritage Inn several times, our son is a student at nearby CSU Chico which is in walking distance to the Heritage Inn. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the location can't be beat, besides being close to the University it is in walking distance to all the restaurants and shops downtown Chico has to offer. Our last 3 stays have been in the deluxe suite, it is huge and well kept and at a very affordable rate. The a/c works great which is important in the extreme heat of the Central Valley. We would recommend the Heritage Inn to anyone traveling to our through Chico.
