Promises Not Kept

We were promised early check in and breakfast vouchers for every day which we justified for the extra cost of the room and we got either. The room was old and needed updating and the carpet in the elevator was like someone died in it. The facets in the bathtub came off in your hand and one of the guests cut his hand on it. I was very unhappy with the promises they made and the pictures on the internet did not look like the hotel. The location and the bar were the only thing going on there. Noisy also!

Very, very old hotel...dark & dingy...nothing like the pics on web site...We phoned to tell them due to delayed flights we would be late & they still gave our room away...they put us in a room next to the elevator (another no no)..we declined to stay when the roaches appeared as soon as we turned on the lights in the bathroom...they upgraded us to their sister hotel, St. Louis...very nice location...only downside, the rooms have no outside windows ...complimentary breakfast in the courtyard was great.

Poor Maintenance

The rooms were clean however they were very poorly maintained. I changed rooms four times to have working faucets for the tub and a working telephone. In the last room the shower did not work. Security attempted to enter my room at 11:30 PM because I was registered into the wrong room. It was very frightening as I was traveling alone. The general manager who was the only person able to compensate me for the problems would not return my calls. I would not recommend this hotel despite the great location and old world charm.
Old-World Charm

This hotel is hundreds of years old, and it needs some attention and tender loving care. We found it very charming and similar to the hotels we stayed in when visiting Europe. Our room overlooked a lovely courtyard. It's in the heart of the French Quarter only steps from Bourbon St. The room was very clean, but during a 5-day stay we had to ask for towels twice and once they didn't make the bed. No eating facility on site but it does have a bar. If you want sparkle and shine, go elsewhere. Charm, location and price are this hotel's qualities. We would definitely stay there again.
