Worst Room I Ever Booked in NOLA

This is the shabbiest hotel I've seen in the Quarter. The bathroom was disgusting, carpets nasty, rooms mouldy and decrepit. Some renovations were being done while their and this hotel needs them badly!

No frills, but no nonsense

Went here just before it got real hot. Checked in around 2am the night of my first occupancy - I booked a single king with no preference and that's exactly what I got. This was my first time in New Orleans and wanted to make sure I was close to the Quarter as my friends were being married in a nearby hotel. This hotel is RIGHT THERE. That is the number one attraction here. Secondly, it was cheap (comparably). The booking was easy and check-in was simple and uneventful. I was honestly worried going in based on the terrible reviews here, but the room was OK. No other inhabitants but me. The hotel is a bit run down, but the staff respected the DND sign and always made the room up when I was out. Totally adequate and covered my expectations realistically. Surprisingly quiet for its location. I never had to ask for anything - a great place if you're a self-reliant traveler. No WIFI, or phone in the room even! - But if you're traveling without a cell these days I just feel sorry. It's actually not bad if you know going in that you just need a place to keep your stuff and a bed to sleep the two or so hours each night while you're in NO. Don't expect four stars and you'll be fine - especially given the rates and location - I mean come on!

Ann Marie Antoinette is no saint.

After three previous stays in the Quarter, we know what to expect from old hotels in the area. October 5-7, 2007 was our first stay in this hotel. While the hotel didn?t seem all that busy our party of 4 was scattered over three floors. We were denied the promised balcony room they had always claimed on the phone was available. The carpets were filthy--wear socks. One in our party moved from a room with a broken shower to a room with a broken faucet. We met a lady in the elevator who suggested we buy sheets at a store nearby. She didn?t want to sleep on the linens in her room. The front desk clerk was consistently rude. Understandable since the management seems disinterested in maintaining their property or training their staff. Pity since the charming building and courtyard are really pretty with plum location to great shopping and eateries. Could be so nice.

You had to let the water run for 20 minutes before you had hot water- the elevator was constantly out of order so you had to use the stairs.

Thank you for a great R&R

It has been awhile since I stayed at the St. Marie Antoinette, but it was a very memorable stay. I was travelling during my R & R in Iraq, and booked with the SMA hotel in Kuwait. Not only were they very helpful with directions and tips for the city, but they went out of their way to pester the airline into finding my luggage when it was lost (so I wouldn't have to waste one moment in NOLA in dirty desert camos). The staff was incredibly friendly, and the room was comfortable. Sure, it might have been a little old and worn in, but it's an old hotel! Comes with the territory! The location was my main reason for choosing this hotel in the first place, but the staff is the reason that I'll go back there again!
