When my wife and I go to Savannah, we usually like to stay at this Holiday Inn. The unit is about 5 miles from the downtown historic district, so the rates are usually less than the overpriced hotels that are closer. One gets the same (or better) amenities, less hassle when calling for reservations, and a more relaxed atmosphere than the downtown hotels. Abercorn Street is a straight shot to get to any location in the downtown area, also.
This hotel has a pretty courtyard with a pool, a restaurant, and a bar. I have never been in the restaurant (since I have my favorite places to eat when I go to Savannah), but it looks clean. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Even when the town is overrum by tourists, you can usually spend a quiet night of rest in the rooms at this location.
We like to go from the hotel to the River Street area, but there are many other activities within 10 - 20 minutes from this location. If you are looking for a mid-range value, try this spot.
