One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!

I have stayed at the Ocean Park at least three times a year for the past six years. The staff is wonderful, location excellent, and the rooms have breathtaking views. The parking is $10.00 but is secure and underground. The breakfast is perfect and there are many, many places to eat. This is our unwind place to go. We even had my husband's retirement party there, renting one entire floor for a weekend and the staff was awesome. Now all of our family members stay there. The Fire Station across the street has wonderful drinks and munchies and there is a Ralph's right across the street for more. Each room has a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator so we always keep some stuff so we don't have to leave the beach. The pool and jacuzzi are as clean as ours at home. Only wish they were open after 10:00. This hotel is now our home away from home. Only good things are coming as there are several renovations and improvements coming soon.

We loved it here. It was a great location, convenient to many bars and restaurants. The staff was friendly, the breakfast included belgian waffles, fruit, cereals, etc. The kids (18 and 15) loved it, too. The room was big, the balcony cute and the pool and hot tub were adequate. The beach was the best, because it was so close and beautiful. We left to go to LA and the kids wanted to come back. Parking was kind of a pain, but it was an underground garage, and it cost $10 a night amd we felt it was safe. We paid $15 in Santa Monica for a much worse parking situation. They want you to ask for pool and beach towels at the desk. They were helpful with directions. We went to the Zoo, Sea World, and a Padres game at Petco Park, the Gas Lamp district for dinner, Seaport Village, and LaJolla. There were tons of things to do there. Loved it.

You're paying for the location. the room was average but clean. the staff was excellent. when i checked in i got what i would consider the best room in the hotel. the balcony was small but cozy. you can sit on the balcony at night and be a million miles from your problems. the boardwalk was right below the balcony, perfect for people watching. the hotel was quiet considering all of the bars within staggering distance.
i will definitely stay there again

Parking was suppose to be $7 Per night it was $10 per night. They said there were non smoking rooms but the whole place was non smoking .We had homeless people living /sleeping out on the grass in front of hotel & begging when we went out. I' ve stayed in lots of hotels this is by far the worst ever.

After looking for an option requested an ocean view room and not finding one, I figured that they might either all have views or all were booked already. When I checked in and saw that my reservation specified "non-view" I asked if I could pay an upgrade and get the ocean view. I was told that all the rooms with 2 beds and ocean views were taken. An hour later, I was in the lobby and heard two girls who just walked in off the street get a room with an ocean view for $* per night less than I was paying. I asked why and the hotel desk clerk told me that I should have booked through them directly to get an ocean view room and that they reduce their rates on any unsold rooms after 4 p.m. I learned that it doesn't pay to book in advance.
