We stayed here for 2 nights to take care of some business in Hilo. The hotel appeared quite nice and well maintained even though it was old. But for two nights I was bitten all over by bed bugs. I was miserable for several days afterwards, due to ...Read more

The rooms were moldy and smelled like a wet, musty basement. Also really dated. The beds were very uncomfortable. The grounds and the view were excellent though. We had a view of Hilo Bay. Would consider staying again if they updated to this century.

There aren't alot of choices in Hilo so here's your only good option. The hotel is fine but don't expect a 5 star experience. The beds were fine and the room was clean. It's a good value and I would definitely stay there again.
Staff very friendly and helpful.

The Hilo side of the Big Island doesn't really have any luxury resorts. There are just a few hotels there, and they are are quite dated. The Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel is the best of the lot, and is a good value for the price. You should expect ...Read more

This hotel made us feel we were stepping back into the 1930s. Everything about it is dated and worn-out feeling, but oddly, we felt more sympathetic than disappointed. One could easily imagine the stature the place once had, and we could picture ...Read more
