My boyfriend and I recently stayed at The Allerton for the Labor Day weekend and it more than suited our needs. It is in the perfect location for getting out and about in the city and the lobby of the building was welcoming and nice. The renovations gave it an urban charm and the trendy bar/lounge area was decorated nicely. Baskets of green apples and candy nuts are a plenty, perfect for a weary traveler. The guest rooms are rather small, however, if you plan on using them for sleeping and showering (hello, you're in Chicago!) like we did, then the bed was way comfortable and the shower was great. I did not have much interaction with the staff but they were very nice at check in. The hotel offers a business center with 2 public computers and printers, which make it easy to research local attractions or to print boarding passes. The elevators were a challenge so I would recommend staying on a lower floor and consider taking the stairs. Or be prepared to ride up just to come back down. Especially with luggage. For the price, the location, and the accomodations - you won't be sorry. Would definitely book again with The Allerton.
GREAT HOTEL!!!!!

This was my first time in Chicago and when I come back I will definitely stay at this hotel again...the rooms were a little small, but they were clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was remodeled recently.
Stay elsewhere!!! Dont try your luck at the Allerton!!!!

I never write reviews, but was strongly compelled to try to save other travelers from this waste of money.
So my wife and I traveled to Chicago and wanted to stay on the Magnificent Mile. We searched for a moderately priced hotel and ended up choosing the Allerton. We were hesitant after reading some of the reviews but decided to try out luck anyway. Let?s just say we should have trusted the reviews. We arrived and thought it looked nice as we walked in. We arrived early and had to leave our bags to explore before we checked in. We asked if they would be locked up securely until our return, were told ?yes? and we were given our bag tickets. We returned 3 hours later and our bags (along with about 20 others) were all stacked up in the lobby UNATTENDED!! Needless to say, I was a little upset with this. I spoke to the employee at the front desk and they immediately assumed that something was stolen and asked if I would like to fill out a form (like this was something that happened frequently). We checked into our room, which was pretty decent with a nice view. Over our stay, the staff was horrible about restocking TP and toiletries. The toilet splashed everything when you flushed it and the shower smelled like SEWAGE. Second issue, we asked prior to arriving in Chicago if our room had a fridge and were told that they would put on in our room when we arrived if they one was available (first come first serve basis) and were told it would be no charge. We later were told that it would be a $$ dollar fee to have a fridge. ELEVATORS TAKE 10 MINUTES.

I stayed for a week at the Allerton 8-18 thru 8-25 08. It is convenient to everything, just minutes walk to great shopping and to tourist sites. The hotel was very clean, the restaurant had wonderful food and the entire staff was great. I had no problems while I was there. My room was a standard room, which was great for me. I think anyone would enjoy the quality of this hotel. I will stay at the Allerton on my next trip to Chicago.
