Our room was newly redone in 2008 and was very pleasant and clean. With Michigan Avenue just around the corner, the location is perfect.

The Allerton Hotel has recently been remodeled. The lobby, employees, and location are perfect.... we had an excellant, very large room with wonderful bed and linens. The hotel is steps from Michigan Avenue and all it's wonderful shops. The elevators are teeny and extremely SLOW. We did not try the restaurant. Instead we walked our the entrance, turned left and walked down a block towards the hospital. Turn right and half a block down... just directly across from the hospital entrance is a "Corner Bakery". It is wonderful for any meal. Be aware that it is very busy at certain times of the day. The coffee and tea come in one very large size.... share it to save money. Be aware that Verizon cell phones don't do well in Chicago OR The Allerton Hotel.

The Allerton Hotel is a very interesting hotel. If you want a good view of the city don't book if you need double occupany, views of the city are only for single occupany The rooms are very small, so if space is a concern, look elsewhere. Also the elevators are extremley small, and SLOW. On the bright side the staff is friendly and the hotel is very clean. If you a intending to be outside the most of your trip, this selection would be a good one!!!

I've lived in Chicago before and knew I wanted o be in Downtown. The Allerton's location was absolutely PERFECT!! It's walking distance to shopping, museums and public transportation that will take you anywhere you might wanna go. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff was friendly. The only negative I had was with their breakfast buffet. It cost $* before tax, and is mediocre at best. It cost my wife and I $* to have a breakfast comparable to that of McDonalds. But that's easily avoidable. There is so much fantastic food in Chicago, some places walking distance. Overall, I would DEFINITELY stay there again. : )
