Had a great time!

I stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt over Thanksgiving weekend with my husband and 25 year old daughter. The staff could not have been friendlier. The hotel is VERY clean and the maintenance staff are very visible keeping everything nice. The fitness center was spotless and extremely well equipped. The pool was heated and there was no problem obtaining a lounge bear the pool. The hotel is very historic with a beautifully restored lobby. The only negative was that the lighting was dim in the rooms. Although it was very romantic...it was impossible to read in bed. You could read outside on the balcony overlooking the pool which was quite nice. Also the Fresh shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion was wonderful. The bed was VERY comfortable and the linens were soft and clean. I would definitely stay here again! We did not have time to try the restaurants but the Library Bar was very cozy.
NOT WORTH THE PRICE

Room was very small and not what I had confirmed on line. Air conditioning was as loud as I have ever experienced beyond a $* motel room with a widow air conditioner. Hotel very trendy but clearly not worth the price.
Rude Staff

Staff is rude. At check in, I was given a Suite when my reservation was for a Cabana (and she pretended like she had no idea). Even w/ a copy of my reservation I was denied a cabana (they had overbooked by 8 people). Nice. Then my room key was cancelled on me 3x. Front desk yelled at my husband & demanded to see our IDs. I was charged $30 for wetbar (which I didn't use). Prince was playing so the whole upstairs was closed off on Saturday. I would never go again - I enjoyed the hotel and since I enjoy arguing it wasn't so bad - but if you're a pushover don't go.

It is a mecca of celebrities at the tropicana bar by the pool. i'm in my 40s and for the first time i felt old and self-conscious. The bathroom had cotton balls, soy conditioner, etc. Very upscale as if we were celebrities ourselves.
