Description: If you are primarily interested in SCUBA diving in Monterey, the Casa Munras is a good place to stay. They have rooms where you can park right in front of your room (a definite plus if you are just returning from the beach in a sandy wetsuit!). You will not be frowned upon by fellow hotel guests! The rooms are simple, with shuttered windows, cosy feather quilts, in room coffee and somewhat of a rustic flavor. Yet very clean and comfortable. (Note--the rooms tend to be a bit small- so be warned.) The pool is nice, but if you just got out of the ocean--why bother?? The hotel's location is within walking distance of the historic area, Canary Row, the acquarium and Fishermans Wharf with its wonderful fresh seafood restaurants. The hotel has its own restaurant, but since you are within easy walking distance of some REALLY good restaurants - don't bother with the hotel's restaurant, Walk a bit! The hotel bar is a comfortable spot for a quiet drink, but not a place for an evening's entertainment. A nice, reasonably priced hotel where you can have easy access to tourist attractions, but will not feel intimidated when you return (all sandy and dirty) after a SCUBA dive.
