Overall the room was in need of some updating but what drew us to it was their very easy-going pet policy. They have no size restrictions and no pet deposit, which made bringing out 90lb lab with us no problem. We didn't try the breakfast, but there is are at least 3 different restaurants within walking distance.

Go Across the Street

For virtuallay the same price as this hotel you can stay at the one across the street . The hotel across the street (Clubhouse Inn) has inside corridors, keycard access, a big hottub, great courtyard with pool and the most amazing free buffet breakfast I have EVER seen at a hotel. At the La Quinta you will be told that they are out of soap! How can a hotel be out of soap??????????? I like to wash my hands after going to the bathroom. Bad, bad move La Quinta. Also, the parking is horrible!! It's so tight that many people park over the lines therefore taking up 2 spaces. We had to park on the other side of the motel and walk around. And then walk up steps to our room. Oh, and the bathrooms are miniscule!!! The only time I was in a bathroom that tiny was on a cruiseship. Really.......don't bother with this place. Yes, the front desk is very nice but you don't spend your time there at the front desk. The rest of it is just not worth it.

Stay at La Quinta Inn

1. Hotel amenities were reasonable and what was expected for the price. 2. It was very convenient that several tour companies came out to the hotel for pickup. 3. The continental breakfast while not spectacular was acceptable (and filling). 4. The "Midtown" part of the hotel name is misleading. I think it is more accurate to say it is on the "Southside". The historic district was ~4-5 miles from the hotel. 5. Although not very close to the downtown restaurants, there were plenty of restaurants within 1-2 miles of the hotel.

You get what you pay for.

The hotel was OK for a quick stay, good location, althought the highway was busy at times (you had to make u turns coming and going). The facility is showing it's age. The rate I paid, after seeing the room , I thought was high (suggested price on room door was $168.00 per night, yea right). Staff was very nice and helpful. Place was noisey at times (late checkin by other guest and dog barking in room above). Parking was tight, small spaces, people with large SUVs insisted on parking between the lines (would have been better just to split two spaces) which left little or no room to access the vehicle next to it. Had a good free breakfast, but if you got there too late, there were lots of other guest, with limited seating, and line waiting to get to the food (Denny's and Benning's right next door were good alternatives).
