Great Location, Friendly Staff, Quiet Rooms

The Renaissance Hotel is located in the heart of the historic district of Charleston, is within walking distance of the Market area, and French Quarter,is a half block off King street,if your looking for shoes king street has an abundance of them, from casual walking to trendy high heels.College of Charleston is three blocks away off of George Street, the Citadel is a short drive from hotel. The Battery and Rainbow is only a short Trolly Ride (runs every twenty minutes). Restaurants are plentifull, I recommend Hanks Seafood on Haynes Street, be sure to try the "She Crab Soup," I can not say enough about the staff at the Renaissance, they were friendly and very helpfull, the Concierge was very helpfull with information, directions and reservations for the various activities, and sites we did while in Charleston, when we do return to Charleston we will book this hotel. The only thing I didn't care for was the parking, but then every hotel in the Historic District has the same problem, parking in the area is at a premium.

What a change

Having stayed here before, and loving it I had no issues rebooking. However I was sorely disappointed. The hotel was under construction, my room reeked of smoke and bacon from uncleaned filters (the hotels explanation not mine), the fire alam went off and this was all before 9 AM. The staff while cordial was basically disinterested in the problems presented. With so many lovely hotels in Charleston the Renaissance will no longer get my business.

Beautifully done hotel that seems older than 6 years.

A wonderful, short stay. A beautiful hotel with a friendly staff. The "joggling board" out front was fun to sit on. Cozy fireplace in the lounge area. Bedding was fabulous.

Excellent Hotel

Excellent Hotel. The best things about the hotel is that one is only 3-5 blocks from the main historic area, but the hotel is extremely quiet because it is on a low traffic side street. Many of the other hotels and inns are on streets where you get weekend bar traffic on the sidewalk until early in the morning because of the C of C being close by.They also have parking directly across the street from hotel, which is not always the case in downtown parking. One does pay a fee, but it was much more reasonable than some other hotels that I checked out.
