Awesome hotel, great price!!!

I wanted to go to the Taste of Chicago. I searched for hotels and couldnt find something reasonable. Then I found La Quinta. This hotel is so close to everything. It's walking distant to State St and Michigan Ave. If you don't feel like walking you can take the train (its on the next block). The rooms are huge and super clean (brand new hotel) and the free breakfast is to die for. The staff is super friendly and extremely nice and helpful. It's a great place to stay and the rooms are affordable. The beds are super comfy. Free internet service. The Sears Tower is down the street.

Great NEW hotel!!!

I loved this hotel. The staff was great, large rooms for downtown Chicago and though the indoor pool isn't the biggest, they still had one! Would definitley stay here again!

Best Things Nearby:
Mt. Hood National Forest, the Columbia River Gorge, end of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, and the Fruit Loop

Best Things About the Resort:

Don't miss the Welcome "Reception." They give you excellent day trip tips and plenty of maps and inside information. It's a must-do before you plan your day trips.

The location is a beautiful mountain/forest retreat. It is very cozy and peaceful.

Resort Experience:

The units are a bit dated but very comfortable and woodsy. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is beautiful and peaceful in the resort. This area requires snow chains for the winter snows, so come prepared.

Welches is a tiny town with only a few services. It is just outside the Mt. Hood National Forest. Do your grocery shopping on your way to the resort. Sandy is the nearest town. For even better shopping, stop in Gresham, where there is also a Park and Ride for the MAX train to Portland and surrounding areas. Use the MAX to get to all the Portland destinations. It's inexpensive and much better than trying to find parking downtown. For WI-FI Internet connection, go down to Java the Hut in the shopping center on the main road in Welches.

Cell phone reception is variable at the resort. If you need to do long-distance calling, bring a phone card. You can only dial local and 800 numbers from your unit.

Best Things Nearby:
Mt. Hood and Columbia River Gorge. There are family farms nearby that one can pick cherries etc. We had a lot of fun with our kids to go cherry picking for 99 cents a pound.

Best Things About the Resort:
We had a two-bedroom unit. The unit was very nice and had a great view of the golf course. The BBQ gas grill was a nice touch.

Resort Experience:
We had a great time. The Columbia River gorge is beautiful. And the waterfall trails are necessary. The resort held a talk the first morning after we arrived to give us a general idea of what to do in the area. That was very helpful. We toured Mt. Hood, the Columbia River gorge, Portland, and also drove all the way to the Oregon coast. The only negative thing was the temperature was around mid to high 90s when we were there. And the timeshare unit has NO air-conditioning. It was unbearable from 11am to 7pm. The unit had a portable fan and one ceiling fan (which was so high that it had no effect at all).

Best Things Nearby:
Downhill skiing, large city activities, snow activities, pool, golf, recreation center, and much more on site.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is within close proximity to my family, skiing is nearby, they are spacious and provide good access to my elderly folks.

Resort Experience:
It is a lovely resort sitting on a beautiful golf course. There is a nice outside pool and hot tub. Snow skiing is within a short drive. I have only been here in the winter but outdoor activities during the summer should be marvelous.
