Hotel was extremely conveient right on Cannery Row only two blocks from the Monterey Bay Aquarium with numerous restaurants and shops within easy wlking distance. The view was great. The room was excellent with a fireplace. The staff was always polite and efficient. Wine and chess tasting each afternoon was great way to meet fellow travelers. The free breakfast in your room was outstanding with numerous choices to pick from. Price was reasonable for a high price area right in the heart of Cannery Row.
An incredible find that made the trip!

By far the very best of boutique hotels, the luxury luxury guests are afforded at every turn makes The Spindrift worth every penny.
On a Friday in September we walked into The Spindrift hoping for a booking that evening. The incredibly professional, polite and engaging associate helped us book a room, and rate, that was perfect. Feeling so well taken care of from the start, the rest of the day was spent exploring the Monterey Aquarium just a few steps away.
We loved the wine and cheese reception and soaked in the relaxed atmosphere with a few other guests. After a lovely chat with the front desk manager, we took her recommendation and brought our plates and glasses to the rooftop garden.
The view, and the weather, was amazing and marked the moment in the trip when I finally relaxed!
In our cosy corner room, which faced the street, we luxuriated with a featherbed, fireplace and sauna (the evening chocolate was a unexpected but very welcome treat!).
Breakfast was perfect the next morning. Right on time and delicious!
Unfortunately, the next evening was completely booked out, otherwise we would have stayed a second night... and might possibly still be there.
If you're going to be anywhere near Monterey on your next trip there's no better place to stay and relax than The Spindrift!
Perfect Location for Visitng Monterey Bay Aquarium

What a great trip we had to Monterey, thanks to the Spindrift Inn. The hotel was just a few steps from the Aquarium, next to so many great places to eat...right on the beach...there wasn't much more we could ask for. I have never been on a trip where I didn't need to hop in cab or drive a car--and now that we have had a taste of such a trip, my family and I can't wait to go back.
One "drawback" to the hotel--if you get a room overlooking the ocean, it's hard to leave the room because you find yourself lingering forever by the window seat and absorbing the beautiful view and sounds.
Looks are deceiving

The picture they show is the largest and newest furnished room. Our room was outdated and badly in need on some cleaning. The bedspread was faded and the chairs needed to be steam cleaned. The bed was horrible, lumpy, and weird blankets. Be sure to bring your own pillows. We had a room overlooking cannery row and yes it is loud with the restaurants right there and the trash pick up daily. I think that's just the price you pay for the location. We enjoyed the breakfasts in the room but had to call the service back up 2 out of the 3 days because they didn't bring some of the things we ordered (like milk for our cereal). The valet service was nice but kinda locks you in to the area unless you don't mind paying for multiple trips. The hotel isn't horrible but for the price I can think of other places I would stay.
Misleading Room Description

The room description advertised a Queen bed. It was a double.
The room description said "view." It's reasonable to assume, in a coastal town, that this means a view of the ocean. Instead we had streetside room with a view of a bar with a very loud (and off-key) band. Very disappointing. Won't be back.
