Hotel Vintage Court

Hotels in S.F. are generally more expensive than in most other cities. The reason is probably that the housing costs in S.F. are very steep in general. Further one should expect to pay $20-30 for parking.

Location:
Bush Street is in downtown S.F. which is near China Town, Nob Hill and Union Square. However you are a 20 min. walk from the sea and pier 39. Whether you prefer the ocean veiw of the buzz of down town depends what you are after.

Reception:
When I first saw the reception and the male receptionist I actually expected a little bit of arrogance since he seemed very busy preoccupied. However when it was my turn he was kind and professional. The reception was smaller and a little more worn that in most hotels in this price range I had seen in cities in the US. However the place had a great deal of charm living up to the name of Vintage Court and the European influence it has is distinct.

The room:
As I expected the room was a little smaller than other hotels in the same price range in the rest of the US. However the room was clean and charming so there was nothing to complain about.

The rooms are clean and nice and have the most important facilities including a minibar.

The hotel does not have modern facilities like a fitness club or similar however most of the time should be spend on exploring the city anyway.

Wine hour:
The hotel has a wine hour between 5pm-6pm which is popular. When I was there it was self service but that didn't matter and the white wine I tried was very good.

Everything considered I can recommend a stay at The Vintage Court especially if charm is more impotant to you than size and the newest facilities.

Nice stay at Vintage Court

You can't beat the location. We had a room with double beds so it was spacious enough. Complaints are our room smelled a bit funky, we aired it out by opening the windows, and all but ONE of the front desk reps could have been more helpful. X was the only one who took a sincere interest in meeting our needs. He went above and beyond by giving us ideas on what to do and also helping us get tickets to a local dinner theater show, Teatro Zinzanni, which was excellent! Expensive but well worth it. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Vintage Court.

Great value for San Fran and excellent location

This hotel has very mixed reviews, so I was hesitant to stay, but could not have been more pleased. The location is amazing for the price--1/2 block from Chinatown Gates and 1/2 block from Trolley stop. Wine reception was an added bonus and the staff was great and helpful. Be sure to request a tub if you need one. Also not sure about the little sign out front stating the property is known to contain cancer-causing chemicals? Forgot to ask about this, but I figured they would be shut down if it was a real hazard! Will stay here again and recommend to people.

Excellent location right by cable. Roxanne's across the street is great Italian food and good breakfast too. Restaurant in hotel insanely expensive, but so much around it that is great, so it doesn't matter. Great helpful staff! Hot water in shower can be sparse if you are not up early. Rooms are small, but adequate if you are not spending too much time in them. Definitely would go back again....great price!

Surprise!

Overall the hotel was great, the rooms did not have alot of room for your clothes so plan on living out of your suitcase, but you are in the middle of the city, two blocks from China Town gates, and the Irish Bank, great food and fun! Free wine between 5pm and 6pm! Public transportation is on the corner and from there the options are endless. Beds are a lil firm for my taste, and the ventilation needs some work. WARNNIG FOR ALL SMOKERS THIS IS A COMPLETELY SMOKE FREE HOTEL, NO INCENSE CANDLES AND YOU WILL BE FINED! Would stay here again.
