Great Location in older hotel

In the heart of Back Bay. Easy access walk to 'T' however the station entrance closest to the hotel was being renovated. The renovation should be done in 2009. The lobby was very nice. Concierge and bellmen were helpful. Elevators are older and sometimes the elevator service was slow. The room was decent size, clean and nicely furnished. Bathroom was clean but on the small side for two adults and it could use an update. The room was directly above a busy street but the street noise was minimal with the air conditioner on. If you are going to use the T for more than one day, get the 7 day pass. It's a great value at * and provides easy access to everything in Boston. For the price paid, (* night) it was a good value considering it is located in the heart of Boston. Short walk to Boston Common and Boston Garden. Would definitely stay again at that price.

Wonderful Location, Great Rates

Have you ever visited a wonderful city, only to return home with bad memories because of the hotel? We like to stay at historic hotels, but sometimes, have disappointing experiences due to Stone Age accommodations! The renovated Boston Park Plaza Hotel, however, is quite another story. I sensed it was going to be a good experience when we entered the spacious, nicely appointed lobby. Our room was smaller compared to newer hotel rooms, but it was the best night's sleep I have had in years (including in my own bed). The drawers and closet were limited, but we managed to utilize all available spaces for our six days of clothing. We were tourists, making the most of our time outside the hotel, yet the room was a most welcomed haven to put up our tired feet! Also as tourists, we used the subway and trollies which are just two blocks away. The hotel is home to a variety of restaurants as well as a good selection of restaurants just across the streets (hotel faces four streets). The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the moderate room rates were icing on the cake. Of all the things to remember about Boston, this hotel made the trip fondly memorable.

Would not stay here again!

The hotel was in a great location! It was close to all the shopping (Newbury street) and the center to town. There was a lot to do around the hotel to keep yourself busy. When we arrived at the hotel it was beautiful in the lobby. Everything looked very elegant, until we got to our room. The sheets and blankets had a ton of stains on them, and there were a few holes. The stains were very noticeable considering that the blankets were white. The bathrooms were a complete joke! There were two full bathrooms in the room that were the size of a bathroom closet. Both bathrooms were falling apart and were disgusting! Nothing was clean and there was hair in one of the showers! Gross! Also in one of the bathrooms the shower head was so low and was obviously broken because it kept hitting me in the head, I had to slouch in the shower while the water pressure was that of a outdoor water fountain! It was horrible. We also got locked in BOTH bathrooms! The doors were very old. I will never stay here again. However, the staff was wonderful and very helpful! They just need a lot of updating. If you are looking for a nice place to stay, do NOT stay here! Nowhere near worth what we paid

This hotel had a great location but terrible service and room quality. The room and bathroom was very small and outdated. Upon arriving the staff informed me they changed my reservation from a king non-smoking to a full smoking room. Also there was a fire alarm that went off at 4:30 in the morning in which they made all floors evacuate, only to find out it was a false alarm. I will not be staying in this hotel again!

Family trip

We just returned from a Family trip with 2 children from Boston and stayed at the Park Plaza Hotel . I would recomed the Hotel. The food at the restaurant is not the best, but then again I was not impresed with the food in Boston (.) We were in Chicago in the summer and the food there is the best. We did eat at the Union Oster restaurant and that was a bit better but very pricy. We did order room service for the kids a couple of time and the pizza is actually preatty good. The girl at the front dest when we checked in was really helpful, she upgraded our room and gave us a bigger room with two bathrooms, so the rooms were not as small as I thought the would be. The rooms are actually a good size the bathroom however very small, but very clean.
