Park Plaza Hotel - Great Hotel

Park Plaza Hotel - Great Hotel

Of the hotels I have stayed at in Boston, the Park Plaza has to be the best, not that the others weren't great, the Plaza has very nice rooms, the grandest entrance, looks lovely from the outside, and is conveniently located.

We were on the 7th floor and had 2 rooms as we went away with my in-laws. Our room faced out towards the sea. The room had only a queen bed (a little bit small for me & my husband as we are used to sleeping in a US King), however it was beautifully decorated, very clean and had a very nice bathroom. There are coffee making facilities, however there is no fridge and no kettle for us Brits who like to make a nice cup of tea!

My in-laws were staying down the corridor in a larger room on the corner. The room had two windows, however because of the tall buildings around, the view was probably better from our room.

The bar is good for people watching as it looks out over the lobby area. There is a fitness centre however no pool.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating.

Each morning we were able to get breakfast from the starbucks in the lobby, which made for a very relaxing start to the day sat on the sofa in the in-laws room eating our cinnamon buns and drinking 'regular' coffee!

There is a restaurant linked to the hotel (Bonfire), we didn't eat here as the prices were quite expensive.

The hotel has several very nice restaurants in the vicinity, including Maggiano's, Finale (which focuses heavily on dessert), Flemmings (great steak place for a special occasion) & Rock Bottom (micro-brewery offering great food and beer at a reasonable price) - that is to name a few.

There is a T station (tube) round the corner on the green line, taking you either all the way down to Fenway Park (home of Red Soxs) or up to TD Banknorth Gardens (home of Bruins & Celtics), plus many other places in between or beyond.

Head down to the Prudential Centre for the Cheesecake Factory, a spot of shopping and a Duck Tour. Then walk back up Newbury Street, great for people watching and window shopping in the designer shops. There are some great cafes to keep you refreshed.

I would definitely recommend staying at the Park Plaza in Boston.

Don't leave your Car with the Vallet

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was good quality for the price. I chose to use the valet parking services though which was a huge mistake. When I checked out the valet brought my car around with a gigantic scrape on the lower part of the passenger side of the car. The hotel outsources for their valet parking and this company was in no way considerate of what happened. Not the hotel's fault really, but I wouldn't suggest staying at this hotel if you planned on using the val let parking.

Very Disappointing

Stayed her for a small week-end getaway. assumed this would be a great hotel to splurge a bit. This was very disappointing. The staff was very rude and seemed to think they were better than the guests. The doorman actually greated and acknowleged the people entering or leaving behind my wife and I. Our first room was the size a of a walk-in closet; we had to walk around the dresser to get into the room. The "queen" bed was in fact a full; we knew because we sleep on one every night. The bathroom was old, outdated and fairly clean. We headed downstairs to change. We were charged an additional $20 for a king room. It was bigger but still outdated and not clean. All-in-all, I will never stay here again nor recommend it to anyone. I have stayed in some historic hotels in NYC and Chicago that were head and shoulders above this hotel. This was a complete disappointment.

The Park Plaza is an old hotel located in a desirable area of Boston for a tourist but the room looked like the year is 1930. It was small and the bath room was tiny. You would get a better room at Motel 6.
