My family had so much fun staying at this hotel. A very unique experience for everyone. All the memorabelia, and the staff was so helpful, even when I had questions at 2am. The Diner they have was outstanding, especially the weekend we stayed, all you can eat Waleye fish on Friday was very good. The breakfast buffet that weekend was great as well. Our kids had a lot of fun.

I took my family on a trip down to the Ozarks and we decided to stop in Springfield to visit the Lincoln Presidential Library. Because the stop was not originally part of our trip plan we didn't want to spend a lot of money on a hotel room. We found just the place. The Route 66 Hotel was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted a less corporate and more down home hotel with some character. This place had it. Old time cars, mortorcyles, stop lights, coke machines and tons of signage from back in the day. Our kids loved it. There are few places in America that you can go to these days and get a glimpse of the past. It was not a fancy place but it was fun. The staff was nice and helpful. If we go to Springfield again we would stay at the Route 66 Hotel again.
Worst Experience Ever!

I went to this hotel for a collector car event, the one 2 years ago was great, but the management or ownership has changed since. The place was dirty, the service was horribly understaffed, the pool was being reconditioned, we waited 45 minutes to be served in the restaraunt by a single waitress who had been the single waitress for 3 days straight, breakfast, luch and dinner, she was exhausted!. The staff deadbolted the outside entry doors at night in direct violationn of fire code. We had a banquet planned, and 2 hours before serving us the manager told the event director, who had already paid in advance for a full 6 course meal, to come up with an additional $2000, or they would not serve the banquet, talk about extorsion! They even called the Police and locked all the guests out of the hotel! The Hotel is cute on first glance but it looks like it was an old motel that's been covered over like a shopping mall with glass walls for the front wall of your room, and torn drapes, and staff that cleans your room, then leaves the door unlocked. If you have a car club and are thinking this place looks like a cool venue for an event, well it does look cool, but watch out, the stairs look like they've never been mopped, the banquet food was overcooked and not what was promised. stay away until ownership changes.
Do not stay and do not book any functions here!

While attending a weekend function with family and friends, (138 guests total) informed by convention coordinator/staff that hotel management was refusing to serve our group the evening banquet demanding more than the previously agreed upon price.
In addition while negotiations were taking place, hotel entered what they called 'Lock Down' physically locking all access doors to the hotel refusing to allow any member of our group to enter or leave the premises.
Police were notified and arrived on the scene to assist w/negotiations.
In order to save the evening were forced to pay additional costs in the neighborhood of $2000.
Will not under any circumstances ever stay at this hotel again. Investigating potential for lawsuit for being held against our will.
