Reasonable compared to price of other hotels

Older hotel but clean and safe. Staff was friendly. Private access to beach was a plus even though it was a couple of blocks - need to exercise anyway! Bottom sheets on the bed kept coming off. The beds were soft, if you like that sort of thing. Main area of room was fine, however, the bathroom was quite dated and had no vent. Breakfast had waffles, bagels, pastries, cereal, juice and coffee. Floors were tile, which was good because the sand gets everywhere! They were vacuumed daily.

I was very surprised how nice this hotel turned out to be. The room was clean and set up nice. We were on the 1st floor and backed our car up to the door each night so loading up and unloading the ice chest and beach accessories was easy each day. My family wished we were able to extend our stay there. The breakfast was good. They had cereal, bagels, belgian waffles and fruit. We used the internet in the lobby several times to look up our accts, email etc and that was nice. Overall we loved the place. I did get a little upset when we checked out and my friend who was in the exact same type of room next door was charged $70 less than I was for the same amount of time. I was told the amount of people in the room did not matter it was just the rate you were given when you made the reservation. Not too happy about that but I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I would just make sure you get the absolute best rate.

Upon arrival, we noticed that the hotel was nowhere near the beach. It is advertised as having private beach access - which, apparently, means a LONG, NARROW, wooden walkway - Must be almost two blocks!! Aside from that, the walkway can only be accessed from the far reaches of the back parking lot, which is probably the equivalent of a THIRD block from the beach. On the way to our room, on the 1st floor, about halfway down from the lobby, we saw such sights as the open-air laundry facility, where all of the linens were being laundered; and the side dumpster, where one could cook dinner on the barbeque grill, if they didn?t mind the bags of garbage next to the open dumpster. When we opened the door to our room, we were hit with the stink of mold and mildew, although I couldn?t see any visibly in the room. It seemed to be pumped out of the air conditioning unit, which worked very well otherwise. Stink aside, we brought in some of our things and figured we could tough it out for one night. There was staining on the wall and tile grout in the sink area that looked like splattered blood, and there were cigarette holes in the bedspreads. The mattresses were lumpy with springs and they snapped and boinged with every move. Our room was too far from the lobby to get a viable Internet signal, so I had to use the lobby computer to find a new hotel. The next day, we had to pack up our car and wait for check-in time at the next hotel. This hotel mistake cost us nearly 2 days of our vacation. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else !!!

Great place, reasonable price for a long weekend trip

We took the family for our first trip to S. Padre Island and needed a place that could sleep 2 adults, 2 larger kids and 1 senior, plus room to move around but not cost an arm and a leg. This was a great place! 2 queen beds in a suite with a table, fridge, microwave and enough room to have a twin inflatable mattress on the floor. Room was very clean and staff kept it that way. Breakfast buffet every morning, though it did get busy so had to take it back to the room a couple times. The pool was fine, but small so it got crowded very quickly. Though the hotel wasn't on the beach, there was a private walkway to the beach that was great and even had a freshwater shower at the beginning of the walkway. Wear something on your feet because the walkway and beach can get hot! The hotel was minutes from resturants and other activities. We would definitely go back.

Rooms were good for the price. Outdoor shower was great to rinse off after going to the beach. Bathrooms need updating.
