The "suite" room was large, with two queen beds, a sofa bed, and a kitchenette area with refrigerator, microwave, dining table and bar sink. The bathroom was clean and functional. Coffee, tea, and microwave popcorn were in our room on arrival. There is also an in-room safe. My husband and I were traveling on business, and the breakfast each morning was a time and money saver. There are plenty of restaurants close by, but most are too far for walking. There are many many dining options from fast food to fine dining that are convenient for those with a car.
This hotel is north of downtown, between Oracle Road and First. The pool area and fitness equipment are well maintained, and the hotel is only a few years old. This is a completely non-smoking facility, and they are serious about it. Guests sign a document that states they will be charged almost $500 more if they do not abide by the non-smoking rule. Everyone we encountered on staff were friendly, helpful, and cheerful.
Last year we stayed at a "golf and spa resort" several miles away, paid at least $100 a night more for a room that was smaller, with no kitchenette or breakfast service, but a better view. When travelling on business, I don't have time to use the golf course or spa, so I'd opt for the savings and select the Holiday Inn Express.
