Absolutely Fantastic!

The pictures of the Grand hotel do not do it justice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I've travelled all over the world. We live in Mpls and decided to spend a night in downtown to celebrate our anniversary. The room was one of the most beautiful rooms. And, ask for a room on the 12th floor because that is the only floor that have the rooms with 12ft ceilings and the four poster bed you see in some of the pictures. The amenities were top notch. The bathroom beautiful and the robes....ahhhhh! I wish we could have stayed much longer. If you want to treat yourself to something special and not just your "typical" hotel room...pay any $$ difference and stay here. You have full access to the Lifetime Fitness Club and park at an attached ramp if you don't want to pay for valet service. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Everything was perfect.

We checked in pretty late, so the selection of available rooms (despite having a confirmed reservation) was pretty slim. Our room was clean, and the decor was very simple, yet elegant. The tub was just a bit small, but that wasn't a problem. The bath products were very good quality, and the mint shampoo was very refreshing after a hectic day of shopping! We loved the bathrobes for use! Price wise, the mini-bar was very expensive. On checkout we were surprised to learn that we had been placed in a room on a "smoking" floor. I guess it was due to our late check in time. The staff apologized, but we learned that we should either check in earlier or call the day of our reservation to confirm what kind of room and the location of the room we will be staying in. Overall, it was a very nice hotel, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the location was great! I'd stay there again, but would bring my own beverages.

Very spacious and very luxurious

My hubby and I stayed one Friday night to celebrate our anniversary. This building used to be the historic Minneapolis Athletic Club and there are framed prints displayed everywhere in the halls, rooms, even in the elevator showing the history of the MAC. Very cool. The fitness center on the 3rd floor is quite extensive and linked with LifeTime Fitness. This hotel features deep soaking tubs in its suites and as such I expected only a tub. But at check in we were told we had one of only two suites with an actual whirlpool unit. The corner tub was plenty big enough for two and a TV was set into the wall right there, a very relaxing spot to unwind. Very comfy robes were provided and I have to say this is the first time I've seen one in a hotel I wanted to take home, but for $* I did not... The bed was fluffy and lush and we slept well on it. Pricey parking ($28 plus a valet tip), but you pay for convenience. A better deal could be had by checking out nearby ramps, but we splurged on the valet. Tricky to get to the valet, their stand is on the corner of 2nd Ave S in front of the WWCCO Radio bldg, you can't see the front door of the hotel from there, but pull in and they will direct you around the corner to the Hotel entrance. Book online with the travel agency or similar service, it is 1/2 the price of booking direct with the hotel. I would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed at the Grand for our 17th wedding anniverary and had a woderful weekend. The room was clean and the bathroom with the deep soaking tub and TV was excellent. We ordered room service for breakfast and the service was prompt and the quality of the food was excellent. The valet was friendly and we did not have to wait for our car.
