Not what it seems

The overall appearance seems nice until you look closely. The beds are as hard as a rock and the bathrooms are in need of some serious updates. There was a red kool-aid looking stain on the carpet and the quality was definitely lacking. The staff was nice and the modern decor was alright. There is no "hotel" parking unless you count the lot across the street that is used for all airport travelers and is of course way overpriced. But then you could use the valet parking the hotel offers for double the price! I would not stay in this hotel again.

Sheraton Gateway- Near LAX

Although the room was VERY nicely furnished, and the bed was the most comfortable I've slept in for mnths and the locatoin of the hotel was almost on the runway at LAX: - There wasn't any on site parking. Either $13.50/day at a lot a block away, or $25/day valet charge. -There wasn't a microwave or a small refrigerator inside the room. Only one packet of coffee was available for the 4 cup pot in the room. -The elevators were EXTREMELY SLOW. The service elevators were recommended by staff and were extremely slow as well! -Breakfast was delivered 20 min later than estimated, and $43 for a simple breakfast for two, the order was wrong. -Staff at the front desk was very slow, and there were issues with the printer upon checkout. -There weren't any EXIT placards clearly visible showing where the stairs were located. When the wait for the elevators neared almost ridiculously long, I had to ask two hotel employees to point out where the stairs were located as there weren't any diagrams in the hallways.

Should have gone to best western,,,,

I am shocked about the good reviews this hotel has. It is a crew hotel for airlines and even the pilots were complaining about the conditons there. The regular elevators have NOT worked for months, the service elevators have to be used and we often waited in excess of 10 minutes for one ( also, they had the great idea of painting the doors and walls in the narrow hallways leading to them during the rush hour of the checkout!!! People were either laughing at it or fuming...) The AC in the room can only be set to too cold or heat......amazing. The internet was way too complicated to use so we gave up after 30 minutes and were amazing to be told to call an 1-800 number to help up set it up....also amazing The parking is 13 dollars a day or 25 dollars for valley parking....and if you want to park yourself the lot is not too far but with luggages the 5 minute walk will not seem so pleasant.... But worse of all is that no effort was done to make up for all the short comings Never again !!!

Great airport hotel

The hotel lobby was cool and sophistocated-very calming after traveling. The staff was excellent and the room was comfortable. Loved the pool area. The location was great if you are going to spend most of your time in the beach towns (Venice, Santa Monica) or Westwood. Rental car agencies are nearby and the parking prices weren't bad. The airport shuttle was excellent. Not a lot of dining options around but I had a car and used the trolley to Manhattan Beach to find places to eat. The only problem were the elevators-they weren't working. I overhead some airline crew people say that the elevators have been out for quite some time so whatever's the problem, it's not an easy fix. I spent the whole time using the service elevator. But, overall, I liked the hotel and would stay again.

Will Not Stay Here Again...

Upon our arrival we were informed of a $/per day pet fee that I was not told about when I made a reservation. Since I had already prepaid my stay there was really nothing we could do but pay the additional fee. After a lengthy wait for the elevator we realized we were only given one room key. We went back to the front desk and requested an additional key and were given two new ones. We waited again for the elevators, got all the way to our room only to find the keys did not work. We waited at least 10 minutes for the elevators to come before noticing a small sign saying that the hotel was experieincing "difficulties" with their elevators. We called the hotel security phone and someone eventually came to help us with our room key. After a few attempts we were given keys that worked (partially--after several attemps each time). Needless to say the delays caused by the elevator problems which persisted during our entire stay were a huge hassle. We thought we were getting a great deal with this hotel, but after having to pay the additional pet fee, parking, internet access, we could have stayed someone nicer.
