Our 1st time in PR and our stay was beautiful!!

This was our first time in PR, so my husband and I wanted to find one of the best places to stay--and staying at El San Juan was one of the best!! We stayed in Sept 2008, and the room we booked was the Garden Lanai rooms, but they were unavailable when we arrived. We were a bit disappointed at first, but our pool view guest room was beautiful. The staff, especially X at the front desk, was wonderful. We ran into some bad weather on our first few days, and X gave us great suggestions on things we could do. We visited the El Yunque rainforest and it was beautiful and an amazing experience; something we will never forget. We also visited Old San Juan; another great experience. My husband and I are already planning our next vacation to San Juan, and we will absolutely be staying at El San Juan again!!

I went here for my honeymoon and it was the worst experience of my life! The moment we saw our room we were disgusted. There was dirt everywhere and blood stains on our sheets. I called the front desk and asked if we could be moved to a different room. The manager said he would send housekeeping up to fix the problem and hung up on me. About a half hour later housekeeping showed up and said there was nothing wrong with the room. I walked them around and showed them everything from bugs under the counters to mold in the shower to the blood stains on the sheets. They finally agreed it was bad and called up the housekeeping manager. She told us to go get dinner and said the room would be clean when we got back. When we returned an hour later, the room was exactly the same. I called the hotel manager and insisted we be given a different room. Again he was extremely rude and sent housekeeping up again. This time the housekeeping manager showed us the room right next door and asked if we would like it instead. This room was even worse. My husband found broken glass next to the door and the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. I called the manager again insisting that I wanted a clean room and he promised to me that he would have a room ready for us the next morning... I never heard from him again and we never got a new room. We also haven't got back the "security deposit" they took out when we first arrived. Whenever I call they always say there is no one there to assist me and to call back later. STAY AWAY

This hotel is truely spectacular. The staff was so accommodating. The pool area and the beach were magnificent. The food was amazing - from the Agave Ranch casual dining with breathtaking views to the impecable La Piccola Fontana restaurant. I will deffinately go back to the El San Juan and reccommend it especially for honeymooners.

Nice hotel...should be noted that pants are required for men in lobby after 7pm ,,this is where the only open four bars are...,,and they will kick you out if your not wearing them!! Disappointed that we were not notified of this, durring the day everythings very relaxed but nite is different, trying to be very upscale.
