Heavy Duty Smell

Overall a good stay, but for the tobacco / ashtray smell in the room and hall.

My mom, husband and I found this hotel online and the pictures looked good so we booked the room. When we found it we noticed it was in a bad part of town, so we parked up front and got out to go in. We told the desk clerk we wanted to check the room out before we decided to stay there. The room smelled horrible and the bed was filthy. We were not in the room ten minutes when we decided not to stay there. We came back downstairs and the desk clerk was acting jittery. We told her we felt unsafe and did not want to stay. When we walked outside we noticed the back glass of my car had been busted out!!! My husband's briefcase had been stolen, my make up bag and my purse (with out a wallet) had also been stolen. My mom walked back inside to tell the clerk that immediately became defensive and stated "Oh, we not responsible for theft." There were NO security cameras and we believe that it was an inside job. The desk clerk's cousin was sitting outside the whole time and "saw nothing." If you have to stay in Memphis the Hampton Inn at Bartlett, TN is the best. They have a security guard at night and security cameras all over the place.

I was a bit hesitant in booking after reading some of the earlier reviews but decided to take a chance. Unlike the reports given in 2006 we found the hotel to be clean, comfortable and accomodating....the price was reasonable. The bed was one of the best we have slept in....great mattress.

online travel website said they had booked me a non smoking room but it was a smoking room. The hotel staff was extra nice but but they did'nt have no non smoking rooms avaible. It was online travel website's fault for hireing non english speaking employees.

Was clean and quiet with clean and cool workout room. Only problem encountered was we were charged more than was quoted on the phone and the internet because we did not cofirm the reservation. They did not tell us this in the beginning. Would return again.
