The first thing I was impressed with was how easy it was to find in such a congested area of Chicago. The second thing I was impressed with was the fact that they had a parking lot, with an entrance to the lobby right off of it! This was great since I do not like dealing with valet parking. The fact that I could go to and from my car at any time without bothering anyone was a major plus, even though the stay was just an overnight, with an early morning check-out.
I stayed down the street at the Days Inn 10 months ago. The Valet parking at the front door was nice until I had to get something out of my car later. The valet guy had to walk with me at least a block away (on a very cold winter day) which seemed like 1/2 mile. He had to wait to make sure I didn't drive off w/o paying, I guess. He complained about the cold the entire time.
This is why I like to avoid this at hotels.
The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful.
The room was by far the smallest room I had ever seen! I have stayed in inexpensive hotel rooms in Japan that were larger. However, the fact that the online company got me a great deal on such a short notice (and again, it was a very short 12 hr stay) the size was not an issue.
The important part was that it appeard clean and maintained. The entire hotel was clean.
In other words, I would rather have a small clean room than a larger filthy room.
A very nice experience

I've stayed here many times, never disappointed. Good value; great spot in Chicago.
This is a very charming, older hotel in one of Chicago's great neighborhoods. The location has great access to the CTA, Wrigley, the Lakefront, and many good restaurants and bars. More "European" than most large chain hotels, it has it's own character. Things aren't perfect, but if you go with the flow, you'll have a memorable experience. Staff is very friendly and capable, rooms are "cozy". For a longer stay, pay a bit more than the basic rate; you'll find it's worth it. Breakfast is a plus, especially if you're creative with what they provide. I stay here every year without hesitation. Leave the car at home and enjoy the vibe of the City!

First stay a year ago was good. This time, hotel is in serious decline, from facilities to staff. Couldn't connect to wireless internet in 2 of 3 rooms they moved me to and staff didn't seem to care. If you need internet (which is expensive @ $10 for 24 hours), don't stay here. Also in 2 of 3 rooms, bathroom door loose on hinges. Only cold water one morning for shower. I live in an old house and love old hotels but this one needs some TLC. The ONLY plus for me was the location.

Great Location! At Diversey & Clark. Walking distance from the el, and close to lots of restaurants and night spots on the near-north side (Boystown, Lincoln Park, or whatever you want to call it). Close to the beach and the beachside parks, and walking distance (a long walk) from Wrigley Field.
It is an older hotel with limited amenities, but they do have a good continental breakfast with long hours (6:30-10:30), and high-speed internet is available for $*/day. Some parking, if you have a car, but I believe they charge extra for parking.
Great value for an excellent location

I've been going to Chicago every summer for years now and I have only received the best rate for this hotel by using Travelocity. There are many hotels in the area, but this hotel is about half of what others in the area charge and it's a great place to stay! Their breakfast spread is just simply incredible and I've been all over The United States, Canada and Europe. The rooms are small, but yet efficient and comfortable. The service is very good and the building is clean and well-kept. Parking is extra ($15 per day) and the lot has excellent proximity to the hotel. I really have nothing negative to say about this hotel. If you'd like a relatively inexpensive place to stay with a great location, good service, clean and an awesome breakfast everyday then you should definitely look into staying here. If you want to pay a lot more for a room in the area and not receive that much more for your price then don't stay here.
